Speaking of commute (but not the vehicles used for it) there was a guy back in Texas that lived on the other side of the state that commuted in to work. It was about 650 miles one way. He would commute in, work 6 to 8 12-hour shifts in a row, then go back home for the remainder of the two-week period. I don’t know where he slept and bathed.

Sometimes you have to work somewhere inconveniently far from where you live (eg. because your lease ran out and you can't find/afford anywhere closer). They probably expected it to fall like a tree, i.e. slowly toppling in the direction of the notch they knocked into it, i.e. towards the right. The whole thing just collapsing straight down and coming towards them was the surprising part.
