if we get a malfunctioning servitor, it should sound like The Master from Fallout, and rapidly shift between difference voices but also mood and tone mid-sentence

Darktide is pretty loose with the lore but that would probably be too much for GW to tolerate. Servitors are non-sapient and don't ever really deploy to combat without a tech priest telling them what to do. When tech priests and even skitarii alphas exist, servitor seems like a really strange pick.

Servitors with any sapience are considered heretical and get destroyed on discovery and their creators get servitorized. The illegal sapient-but-enslaved servitors likewise can be effective at combat, or as sex slaves, or etc., but they have a propensity to go insane and murder everyone. The novel Flesh and Steel covers this. The old Mechanicum used to have sapient thalaxii that were sort of like advanced combat servitors, but those and the Ordo Reductor no longer really exist.

I mean we are serving under an Inquistor so Tech Heresy isn't really all that big of an issue

Though honestly I'm not really picturing these as being true Servitors, more like really low budget Skitarii, describing them as Servitors just gets across the aesthetic they'd have better

I did say I thought the right/gun path ogryn capstone could use some extra strength but I do think its the one capstone where you want every node in it for ogryn, the others your choices are often way more situational. For middle/tank path nodes like Pained Outburst seem pretty hard to trigger unless everything is about to go real bad, and for this melee build you have enough regen from melee attacks and are mainly using heavy attacks so the other two nodes in this capstone don't seem needed to me.

What kind of blessings/perks do you shoot for with the Brunts Special?

You know which one it is.

It strikes me as especially silly in this game. If you win you get credits (the thing you care about), some mats, and an item you'll immediately sell. If you lose you get less credits. Unless people are afk or trolling just play the drat game. That pile of credits you would have gotten if your team was all 3000-hour players who carry you would just get blown on 335 weapons at Brunt's anyway so you might as well spend your time playing instead of loading.

Like I at least get it in VT2 or DRG or something where any appreciable rewards require victory but even then if you're playing with pubbies you've decided to embrace the chaos already. Might as well have fun with it. Go get on the Hardcore Darktide Gamerzzz discord if you want to ensure everyone is up to your standards.

It's rare, but sometimes people rage too hard in this game. I had someone being a dick after they died. I told them they could stay dead if they wanted. They actually apologized and the team was cool from then on.

Like, it doesn't matter. Play the game and enjoy. If you don't enjoy playing, don't play.

Newbie question: Why the Brunt's Special over the shovel?
Also why that over the Power Maul / Brunt's Basher, which have a heavy attack chain of attacks that damage/stagger in an AOE instead of a vertical strikedown?

e: I can partly answer my own question: the Brunt's Basher's heavy attack chain seems slower and is less good diagonal swings (less cleaving through an entire crowd at head level), compared to the shovel.

So funny story, I actually came here with a similar sword and a similar question.

I put Wrath on over Momentum since I felt tanky enough. I have the infested/unyielding damage skill, I'm curious what the best thing to replace the +20% damage perk is. Is it ideal to double stack bonuses on Unyielding to be stronger against big guys? Or +10% vs Specialists for high value targets? Also, does the Zealot backstab trait count as a Weak Spot? In practice so far this thing has been a crowd shredder, making the crit sound constantly and cutting through mixed hordes.

Add 5% more crit and take the crit damage reduction traits and crit CDR so you can spam chorus, bleed everything around you and make your team immortal half the time.

Entirely just a personal preference thing, I like the speed and mix of overheads and sweeps with the Special. I like the cleavers pretty interchangeably on this build too because of the rend it gets, but the Special is my favorite brunt.

Just tried that bleed crit chorus setup. Once the loop gets going it felt really strong. I'd been using Chastise to give myself a boost of Toughness but Chorus gives even more. I had to choose between +20% damage to unyielding and infested or +10% sprint speed to afford it, I am leaning towards the sprint speed for good mobility since the crit loop feels like it's making up for that 20% damage perk.

The entire team benefits from Brittleness, while only you benefit from Rending. They both effectively do the same thing, improving the damage weapons do against a given armor type if it does less than 100% by default. So if a weapon’s light attacks do something like 5% against Carapace it would help greatly, but if that same weapon does 120% against Unyielding it would offer no benefit there.

Fake edit: Patch 13 changed Rending/Brittleness a bit to make it additive and offer a minimum bonus of one quarter the listed value. If a light attack does 10% damage against Carapace and you gain 40% Rending, you’ll now do 50% (5x the damage). If that light attack does 100% against Unyielding you’ll now do 110% (1.1x the damage).
