We should vote to only award the next version of community points on Lemmy and phase out Reddit.

wonderfully poo poo headline/screenshot combo in that Bloomberg tweet. guys, if the "10% rise" doesn't last long enough for you to take a screenshot of the graph before it plummets back down to where it was a minute ago, it has not actually risen 10%

did i misread a headline, or is there talk about SBF's lawyers not even trying to mount and defense and just resting after the prosecution is done?

DJ Burette
Jan 6, 2010
I think it's unusual but not unheard of. My understanding is that it's a tactic used if you think that the prosecution hasn't done enough to prove the crime, and you think the defendant's testimony won't help and the cross might be problematic.

I served as a juror on a trial where the defence didn't present and they were still found not guilty, so I wouldn't count it as a prosecution victory yet.

Of course from following the live blog it seems the defence and cross has been abysmal but that could all be different in person

yeah, the defense may put on no case and try to argue for acquittal in closing by saying that the prosecution has failed to meet all the elements of the offense and go through the requirements in the jury charge and how the cops were deficient. also they'll probably throw out some fig leaf (that will be objected to, of course) that smol bean sam would have got up and told them everything, but the horrible jail system wouldn't give him enough speed to talk.

having the defendant testify almost never goes well but since the defense apparently hinges on sam explaining his whoopsie-doodle + they've been telegraphing it for over a month, he's almost certainly going to take the stand
