I feel like with most super powers super durability/strength is something you either get as part of the package or you don't survive to adulthood. Like a non-durable speedster's heart ain't making it out of being a toddler.

All XMen are either peak human or at least Olympic level in everything they do unless their mutation specifically gets in the way. Part of the mutation is that, so it looks like The Boys is mostly going with that logic. It was said a few times as well, with A Train being surprised that he was punched through his natural durability or them all having a level of enhanced hearing.

I bet there's an in-universe porno titled Running A Train.

That's crazy that so many people didn't see that Andre was only moving metal. I thought they were lampshading it pretty hard with him manipulating metal objects so much early in the season.

There are very successful people who aren't exceptionally smart or strong, but they're able to work and train for 100 hours a week without seeming to get hurt or burnt out. Of course they're outnumbered by all those successful people who inherited a lot of money, bought real estate, and then claimed to be part of the first category. There's a fanfiction, though I can't find it now, where Superman wrestles with guilt that any time he spends resting is time that people he could potentially save are dying. He spends all of his time either helping people, selling his services to the highest bidder (flying satellites into space or super-fast canal digging), or in therapy. Holy poo poo was that soldier boy in the next episode preview? Just our luck it's some gimmick like the shape-shifting twerp or a flashback. Kinda like that scene of Homelander eye lasering an entire crowd.

Just be thankful we've got a shape shifter in this show instead of a "Homelander wearing lingerie" one.

As a Supernatural fan, I don't care if this show writes out every other character and makes this the Soldier Boy Show. Give me more Jenson Ackles!!!!!

The show, both Gen V and The Boys, have always been explicit in showing the supes are idiots. They the saying "if the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail" writ large. But regular people don't have 'hammers' so they have to use their brains. And that's why they're in charge.

There are plenty of smart superheroes... Starlight, Neuman, Maeve and Homelander. They're at least not dumb. That said, Vought's not interested in encouraging intelligent, questioning minds among its rank and file.

Whenever there's an establishing shot of Godolkin in this show it looks like one of those technical colleges you see on the side of highways, or a community college with a bit of a facelift. But whenever they show students walking around the campus, the architecture all looks like Princeton University. Looking it up, they picked a bunch of different universities around Toronto to film for the various locations, but it's hard not to realize the huge architectural difference between overhead and ground level shots.

Campuses typically sprawl out and have buildings built at different times, resulting in some campuses being pretty big with a mix of classic and modern architecture.

which is exactly what you see here, that's U of T - Mississauga and St. George campuses in those two shots

yeah my school has brutalist buildings across the street from ultramodern glass buildings its pretty wild, but thats how some colleges really are
|
# ? Oct 17, 2023 01:54 |

I understand why they picked the two styles for different types of shots, because the overhead shot looks much more like what you'd expect to see from a school created for superheros, a thing that has only existed for like 60-70 years in The Boys universe, and probably wasn't widespread enough for a university infrastructure until recently. But the second architectural style is much nicer looking to have characters walk through and instantly gives that "university" vibe.

It’d be hilarious if Vought bought some historic land grant university and Disneyland-ed it. Has the state or town that the campus is in been established?

Huh? the first building is the crimefighting school and there have been many ground level scenes filmed in and around it

There are at least four different architectural styles on one campus.

This is how modern Christianity interpreted the existence of superheroes in the Boys universe. They also used supes like Starlight and Ezekiel to prosletize. Starlight used to be a part of "capes for christ". Golden Boy as well possibly.

Yeah, and I'd really like to see how that looked. The creators of The Boys have been pretty good at showing the dangers of toxic masculinity, race supremacy and capitalism. But I suppose getting into toxic Christianity would just get their offices firebombed or shot up.
