I use firefox, I think the chrome equivalent is an incognito tab, but maybe try the adblocker cache purge instead if that works better. I have an option to right click and open any link as an incognito tab, dunno if chrome works that way.

There used to be a bunch of adresses you could add to your router to block the ad servers at a hardware level, but I can't remember what they are, and I suspect it's not been that simple for a while now.

So far I've found that, upon getting youtube's ad blocker whine, simply refreshing the page does the trick. (am on chrome, logged into a Google account) That will serve me for now until I figured out how to refresh adblock's cache or get privacy badger to work (I'm given to understand privacy badger also defeats the youtube thing)

Greggs has sucked since they ended the big softie. Use ublock as your ONLY adblocker on youtube, and purge / update cache whenever it gets detected. Microplastics posted:So far I've found that, upon getting youtube's ad blocker whine, simply refreshing the page does the trick. For those inclined, one can also get youtube premium for <£2/month by using a VPN and pretending you're Turkish. I did this because my wife likes to watch it on TVs.

My VPN doesn't have Turkey but I tried to set it to Brazil (seems next cheapest I had available) and it wanted me to give them a social security number or something. Assume Turkey doesn't have that issue?

The two times I've done it were for Argentina (back when that was cheapest, like £0.75 for a family plan) and Turkey and in neither case did they require anything beyond an address, which I just got from google maps. This was all on my main google account which has my actual address on it, too.

Same; I generally do not connect to web sites from my own machine, aside from a few sites I have some special relationship with. I usually fetch web pages from other sites by sending mail to a program (see https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/womb/hacks.git) that fetches them, much like wget, and then mails them back to me. Then I look at them using a web browser, unless it is easy to see the text in the HTML page directly. I usually try lynx first, then a graphical browser if the page needs it.
