Like, devoid of context the word "crest" wouldn't offend anybody, but if someone said it in Russian and used it to refer to Ukrainian people then they should absolutely be banned at a bare minimum. Usage and intent are what is important here and a derogatory shorthand for a people or ethnicity is exactly how slurs are formed, in all things language usage is the arbiter final
