It really didn't feel that long as I watched. The crowd plus Kento & Yuma heeling it up was plenty entertaining

been enjoying YAMATO, Dragon Kid, and Punch Tominaga as a trio. It reminds me of the legendary run of CHAOS trio Ishii, Goto, and YOSHI-HASHI back in the pandemic era. So what's the deal with the team though? I haven't been super-updated with DG lately. Is it just a Punch thing to cozy up with main eventers like YAMATO and Shingo? Did they start around the same time or be in the same unit?

Punch, YAMATO and Shingo formed a stable in 2012 (only lasted a year but still) called Akatsuki, aka Rebirth. Punch had just graduated from the dojo to the main roster at the time and a stable of now-known talent (World-1 International; Johnny Gargano, PAC, Rich Swann, Ricochet, Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino) offered him a ride, but he turned it down and told YAMATO and Shingo he wanted to be with them instead

Their paths have crossed a couple times since for intervals, including now with Dragon Kid who idk if there's any history he has with Punch

Since High-End disbanded Kid just kind of continued to hang out with YAMATO so now he's hanging with Punch as well.

Punch has also been YAMATO's lackey on and off this past year, especially whenever they show up in other promotions or special shows with YAMATO's old character who never sleeps.

Full card for Gate of Destiny on 11/5 just released:
1) Minoura/Ben-K/BxB Hulk vs Genki/Kagetora/Mondai
2) Brave Gate: ISHIN© vs Ryoya Tanaka
3) Mocchy/Junior/Kato vs Shun/KAI/HYO
4) Kzy/SMJ/Jason/U-T/Jacky vs Ultimo/Mante/Doi/Kondo/Eita
5) Triangle Gate: YAMATO/DK/Punch© vs Fujii/Yoshida/Bodyguard
6) Twin Gate: Susumu/Kanda© vs Yoshioka/Dia
7) Dream Gate: Madoka Kikuta© vs Big Boss Shimizu

I really hope they finally put the belt on Shimizu. Man's earned his stripes.

I believe in the Big Boss. I’ve been wanting him to win the belt since the 2016 KoG finals against YAMATO.

Also I like both guys but having Punch and Yoshida in a title match is pretty ooph.

I admittedly have a big soft spot for Yoshida, and I'm still mad that he never got to join Gold Class. After they became the handsome weirdo unit and Doi left to go freelance, they should've let Yoshida back in.

He main events the Korakuen in a 6 man (CIMA/Magnitude Kishiwada/Shingo vs. Mochizuku/Susumu/TAKA) and is the featured wrestler, then Infinity 28 is him winning a bunch of matches including the key hunt, destroying Hulk in the process (hmmm) and then challenging Mochizuki for the Dream Gate in a really good main event. DG's Youtube house shows don't usually add much to feuds and just show the matches, but the way they built up the Kikuta vs Shimizu feud here was great. The fight even goes outside the building, which is a perspective we rarely get.

The other two matches are worth your time too. Timestamps in the description if you don't want to watch the long intro.

Corgis love bread. And Puro

Weekend is reasonably quiet this weekend, & then Friday is a holiday in Japan so it is packed. New Japan & All Japan run a lot of shows in towns you've never heard of, with NJPW almost wrapping up the Junior Tag League, with only the finals to come the day after our week. All Japan go up to Hokkaido for 4 shows in 4 days, (actually 7 shows in 6 days but the final 2 days are the following week) so we've got the slightly odd situation of Jonathan Gresham's first Japan tour since the 2019 BOSJ being in Japan's most northerly prefecture, & least densely populated prefecture. Unimportant fact of the day, Hokkaido is actually less densely populated than my home nation, Scotland & trust me when I say that a lot of Scotland is very empty. Anyway, there's some really fun stuff on this tour, I think personally the match I'm most excited for though will be Fuminori Abe vs Hikaru Sato vs Jonathan Gresham from Night 2 on Wednesday.

Outside those 2 companies are big show of the week comes from NOAH, 3 title matches & the very final NOAH match for Katsuhiko Nakajima we get the final AXIZ tag match against two NOAH legends. Stardom have more Tag League plus a weird gimmicky Halloween show, & on Halloween itself there's Baka Gaijin + Friends, though that card is unknown as I write this. We do know that Kazusada Higuchi will be there with the regular crew though. Nothing overly essential this week, but hey, some very fun looking stuff.

God, All Japan's pre Title Match VTs are so good. Especially considering the budget they must be done on, but this one before Aoyagi vs Kento starts with a clip from Yuma's debut, against Kento 9 years ago.

Don't understand a word the voice over guy or wrestlers say but man, they still get it over so effectively

Would you be my new best friends?

I'm torn on Kenoh vs. Jake Lee. I love Kenoh, and Jake Lee's title reign isn't really working for me, BUT I do appreciate that NOAH is being very un-NOAH and have a young wrestler who they're apparently fully behind and supporting and giving him big wins over established starts to cement the status of his title reign.

If Kenoh wins, it kind of feels like maybe it's back to wheel spinning with the same established guys at the top, but also Kenoh loving rules. If Jake Lee wins, he's proven himself the best of what NOAH has to offer and I guess NOAH will have to go against their every natural instinct and push some new people. I would have said Kinya Okada might have fit in there, but... welp....

Maybe Ueno could pop over from DDT!

Look I know people love to look at ages and pick the lower number when fantasy booking who should go over in NOAH, but Jake is just not that guy. His reign has earned him the cred to be an upper card gatekeeper and that's where he's maxed out realistically. I think the decrepit, one foot in the grave dying corpse of a 38yo who is the best wrestler and hottest act in the promotion this year can be trusted to steer the ship.

It's all hosed afterwards because the company has no other stars but maybe Kenoh holding for 12-24 months gives them time to figure something out if we're really optimistic

I guess my take is that Kenoh is still in his 30s so he's not quite in the "NOAH only pushes olds" category just yet, and both of his GHC runs have been under 3 months so it's not like he's dominating the main event scene either. A long, solid run at the top would be a great happy medium to anchor the rest of the company while they transition into building new stars under him.

Also Kenoh rules and I love the very angry babyman.

It's like goldy or bronzy, but made of iron.

I just wish I had faith in Noah not to gently caress it up. I'm lukewarm on Jake Lee, who is like the concept of "Okay" in human form and who has had a series of solid 8/10 matches against the best wrestlers in the world. I'd prefer Kenoh as champ because I prefer Kenoh as a wrestler, but I can't escape the feeling that at any moment after he wins I need to be ready for Fujita to come out with a bag of tallboys and declare himself number one contender.

Maybe Ueno could pop over from DDT!

Ueno HAS to win at Ultimate Party though, it feels like I say it every time he loses a big match but he's got such little credibility left at the top of the card since he's constantly presented a step below the actual main eventers.

I liked Jake before he went to NOAH and I stopped paying attention, it took a while since he was still growing into the Total Eclipse role when I started watching but then he had that hour draw with Kento and he clicked for me. Then he had to vacate the belt because of his back injury and it all went to hell

Make it Fujita but it's Jr. Hayato instead.

Just stepped down from full time, told Oishi he'd always be there to help him out in DDT if he calls

NOAH show is on right now, up against the Super Jr. Tag League show. I'm mostly only interested in Kenoh vs. Jake Paul but it's also a good option to avoid watching House of Torture!

Haha wait what's his name again? Jake Lee? :sweatdrop:

Imagine how pissed off Kenoh would be if he had a match with Jake Paul. And then he finds out he has a match with Jake Paul!
