If she gave herself the antidote, was it a true tea ceremony? Is it just like normal tea that happens to be poisonous, or, is it as I assume and like Klingon PCP?

Wesley got his pointless cameo in Season 2. So did Guinan. No one wants to work with Barclay because he's a chud IRL.

But they wanted to work with Beltran in S2 and he's a chud IRL. Hell, Prodigy is basically Chakotay Quest

Fair. At least Beltran read the scripts for Season 2, had the wherewithal to realize they blew rear end, told Matalas to gently caress off and picked Prodigy instead.

Also he isn't even really in prodigy so much as he's a plot device.

The tea is mildly poisonous to klingons and fatal to humans.

That's true but I'm guessing we'll see a lot more of him in season 2. Which at least was done before he went full public anti strike.

I think I’m alone in this but Phlox always gave me big serial killer vibes, like what I imagine John Wayne Gacey would be like. I kept expecting him to be revealed as having been eating people or something. But on rewatch he’s just a cool chill poly dude.

that prosthesis was, in fact, used in a scene where a female klingon was topless in discovery.

I think that's part of the "actually alien" vibe they managed to hit with him. He's trying to assimilate with the humans, and he's normally pretty good, but sometimes he's definitely not.

The thing about Kirk Spock and Bones is at the end of the day the friendships between the 3 of them felt genuine despite some pretty clunky lines and hammy acting by 2 of them. Bones' grumpiness led to some great lines here and there in the movies. When I binged through them a few months ago their relationships stood out to me as one of the high points of the flims. Haven't watched much TOS series in a while though.

I have no problem with them putting right wing actors like Beltran or Schultz in star trek, in fact it would be very funny to make them spout progressive ideals. They should give chakotay a big speech about how collective action is the only way to enact real change.

It's so loving bad. Everything is like a highschool play, and all of the melodrama and pseudo -character development is completely unearned. It switches tone from grimdark to an episode of Gilmore Girls to a soap opera often within the same episode and everybody involved with it should be embarrassed

it’s funny that I was thinking how SNW has a wide variety of tones in different episodes but it’s really good

like, the show is good so it has breadth and depth and can be by turns fun and serious

SNW: OOPS all good episodes
