Got a little bit lovely when I was in 5th or 6th year with a new head-teacher coming in and imposing a dress code and getting kids to call teachers 'Sir' and poo poo like that, but I was on my way out anyway by then. I looked it up a few years ago and all the kids are wearing blazers and poo poo now. Depressing.

It has been extremely depressing to see financially-solvent districts, who were providing services above the usual lovely baseline, get decimated to bail out the other, non-solvent ones (for all of 5 minutes). It would seem the whole purpose of the unitary exercise is to turn struggling districts into financial black holes that destroy their neighbours

Kids today will never understand why their parents got excited about “were you up for Portillo?” ( who of course then went on to a much more lucrative career having free holidays paid for by the BBC)

Maybe I’m just getting older but perhaps knowing that Keith and his Briefcase gang are just going to run damage control while the Tories regroup is better than whatever that feeling was in 1997 that Blair actually had some genuine intent to reform how this decrepit archaic shithole was managed
