I wonder if when someone says "I like Disney" they are talking about the characters and stories they've created or their demonic business practices? Hmm tough question, we'll probably never know the answer.

Let's compromise and say they like the stories, not the company, but their favorite movie is Song of the South

And what should one do to be remembered?
What are people's thoughts on Last Epoch? For reference, I really, really like Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn, but I find GD's palette and lack of combat feedback a bit of a bummer (didn't stop me from completing it and all the expansions though!)

It has really neat combat system with some similar ideas to Diablo 3. It's one of the extremely few diablo-likes that actually has abilities interact with each other, and isn't just about number stacking.
I found messing around with builds a lot of fun in Last Epoch.

Unfortunately multiplayer in that game is still a complete loving mess, and it takes 30 to 60 seconds to change the map if you're trying to play coop.
Offline works perfectly fine though.

Can confirm. For me it has been well worth the price. They just shifted the release window to next year, due to Path of Exile 2, so maybe that will give enough time to get the multiplayer functionality on track. I certainly hope so, because otherwise the game is solid and the team has plenty of gas in the tank development-wise.

Fueled by Satan

It's a lot of fun and as Jack Trades mentioned the abilities interact in a lot of fun ways that encourages experimenting. The crafting system is pretty neat too. Hopefully they get their MP poo poo sorted by 1.0 because I think it could make a big splash if they get a big marketing push and don't gently caress up the launch like everything seems to be doing now.

I believe they have stated that "finishing the campaign" is something they hope to do for 1.0 but are not going to commit to it definitely happening.

Nothing will beat Blizzard's production values, so D3/D4 "feel" and look better, but it's a really good game -- personally I'd say it's the best ARPG on the market despite the very real multiplayer bugs/problems that Jack mentioned.

I think they have some of the most interesting class/subclass ideas and implementations, and offers a perfect blend of "mindless complexity" for character builds. It's nowhere near as complicated as PoE, and also nowhere near as braindead as Blizz offerings.

It also has the most "respectful" crafting system with regard's to the player's time. If an item has open affix slots you can just slam the affix you want into it by consuming a "Shard of <whatever stat>" that you find by killing things / by scrapping items with those stats.

They've also teased some pretty cool concepts for how to appease both players who want to play "Self Found / Limited Trading" or people who really want to trade, although these aren't in the game yet.

Last Epoch is cool and good. Definitely worth the price if you don't need to play online. Crafting, loot filter, skill trees, gamefeel...it's all good.

I really can't stress how good the interactions between all the abilities are in Last Epoch.
There's so many ways you can change they function in really meaningful ways.

A skill that throws a knife.
Do you want to throw knives in a cone? In an area? Around you in a circle? Do you want a different skill to also spawn a knife when you cast it?
Do you want the knives to return to you when you use the ability again and do a bunch of damage as they fly back?
Do you want the knives to spawn an AoE when they're stuck in the ground after being thrown? Do you want that AoE to trigger a different ability when it hits?

It's not quite as deep as PoE, but it's still has a lot of depth and unlike PoE it doesn't force you to reroll your character from the start every time you want to try a new thing.

Last Epoch also has plenty of unique items, which can modify the way certain skill or mechanics operate.

For example, there is the Herald of Scurry helmet for the Primalist class, which converts your wolf skill summons to squirrels, except you can have twice as many of them.

All I'm saying is that the squirrelmancer is a fun build.

Oh yea, I had a unique Relic which has my favorite affix in any ARPG:

"+10 Bees per second while in Spriggan form"

It just summons 10 bee familiars that you fly around and sting things. They only have like a 10 second duration and despawn, but yea between that helm and some Idol mods you can just fly around with an ever-spawning swarm.

I've been in a pirate sort of mood so I decided to start up AC4: Black Flag. Does anybody who has played through it know if it is ok if I skip through the first person modern day bullshit as fast as possible to get back to being a pirate? Will I miss anything good? I remember playing this a while ago and hating both the modern parts and the tailing missions.

The first four games had some interesting ideas, even if ultimately the entire thing is probably just word from on high that they had to have something ‘relatable,’ instead of just purely a historical game.

That said, that all went out the window a long time ago.

Snake wins.

Is Ghost Trick worth playing if you've never played the original, and have no nostalgia for the DS era of games? I'm thinking of buying it from a site that doesn't do refunds, and I'm skeptical of all of the glowing reviews from people who loved the original. I've been tricked too many times into playing a 10-20 year old game and finding that it's straight up unfun to play because of poor controls or genre conventions that have long been discarded.

You should buy Ghost Trick, but if you are in any way cautious you should download the demo that allows you to play the start of the game. Demo progress carries over to the full game.

Well, on the upside it is much MUCH shorter than Valhalla. On the downside, it finds entirely new ways to be boring.

Cool setting, controls well, story is copy/paste bullshit with no interesting or memorable characters.
