Alan Wake 1 is what happens when a nordic kid gets their Stephen King and Twin Peaks fanfic produced into a video game.

Which, as a nordic kid, is awesome. I can understand that some of the writing in that game can feel weird, but as someone with the same cultural background as the developers, I am giddy about it.

However, "War" was not written for the game; this was all just a bit of cross marketing between the band and Remedy. They did, however, write a couple of other songs specifically for the game, and this one is pretty great:

Impressive visuals too and a nice aesthetic imo, I don't know if it's f2p or not but I hope it doesn't die shortly after launch because it looks solid and refined, ideal game to pick up and play every now and then provided it gets good support.

I might be misremembering the F2P part, I just assume any MP shooter these days is that way. Honestly I'd rather just give them $30 for the game and not chase some FOMO that's built into a gameplay loop.

Because... "Alan Wake 2, fully funded by Epic Games, is ~~expected to come~~ out ~~later this year~~. Remedy will be entitled to 50% of the game�s net revenue after Epic fully recoups its development and marketing expenses."

So, yeah, don't expect it on Steam or PC Game Pass ever (or who knows, in several years).

I guess I assumed because of the Epic thing that AW2 was Unreal 5 but I guess it's a home grown engine.

You look at the Antstream Arcade and it's like wow 1,300 games, then you look at the games list and there are like 15 you might want to play.

Quickly scrubbing through the Youtube stream archive, they announced some games with an emphasis on previously-unreleased SNES stuff like Mr. Tuff and Super Turrican Score Attack (and also pong, lol) and previewed a complete redo of their interface that includes a redone duel/minigame challenge mode called Streak Fighter.
