Of all the supes in The Boys we've seen so far, I'm surprised none are a "healer", someone who can like... cure cancer or reverse brain damage. Though I suppose if such a supe existed Vought would be a trillion dollar company.

They'd probably spend their incredibly miserable life in a Vought lab being studied.

Good to see Anthony Starr. Didn't think he'd show up at all.

I was thinking about that one supe from s1 who would regenerate his limbs and how he wasn't immediately taken to an underground medical facility to have his organs harvested forever.

:same: but imo she got there way too fast. It wasn't really believable. I don't have a problem with how quickly Sam got there though.

It would have been kind of funny if she head-popped Homelander. It would be almost fitting for a universe this nihilistic that Butcher never gets his revenge against Homelander and some rando beats him to it.

I don't really understand the end state of the season. I get burying the four "good guys" since they knew too much, but why did Vought prop up Cate and Sam, who were causing a murder rampage across their campus and definitely wouldn't keep quiet about the Woods? Is it implied that Homelander took their side and what he says goes?

Also lmao at Marie's big heroic moment of stabbing an escaped asylum patient in the back to save The Board of Trustees.

That's the best interpretation I can manage. Homelander saw a bunch of supes murdering humans and supes harming, if not killing, those supes to protect humans and well it's not hard to figure out where modern Homelander is on opinions of such things.

Plus, it's a blonde white lady and a handsome white teen versus a bunch of minorities. Dude is a super cop made by a nazi.

Plus plus, Marie and Andre were the most likely to make the Seven of all the kids, so he was potentially eliminating a future PR/popularity issue for him.

I may be wrong but I suspect they had several endings planned for the show depending on how likely the show was to continue or not. And since this show is obviously continuing as a plot parallel to the main show, they obviously bent the plot of the last few episodes to get more in line with the main show: Homelander showed up, did the cop thing and he blamed the minorities members for the violence, the pro "exterminate inferior people" group got a reward for murdering people, and the minority people who wanted to help the people in charge and protect the status quo got hosed over. Now I want to know the premise for season 2...

I feel like I missed something really important - why did Golden Boy kill himself?

He'd just found out his brother was alive, had killed the dean to try and find his location, fought off his friends and then...flew up into the sky and immolated himself?

Uh, why?

Of all his options, he chose the one where he'd never be able to see his brother again, rather than just taking a moment and telling his friends, "Hey, my brother's alive, the dean was a monster" etc.

He was presumably quite emotionally distressed over having been lied to by his friends, having just killed someone, fought with other friends, etc. Not exactly the time for rational thinking.

Because he was stuck in a cycle of realizing his brother was alive->getting mind wiped. At least one time he had realized it was Cate doing it so his closest ally was compromised. He only left the clues for what’s his name as a Hail Mary but knew if he was around they would mind wipe him to stop anyone from finding the woods.

Remember “he is close to as strong as homelander” so he could have been used as the enforcer of the status quo at any time.

Wasn't homelander shown to be completely indifferent to race when stormfront was around though? I thought the point there was that he was so wrapped up in himself that it was pretty irrelevant to him.

I thought she just pushed a bunch throughout the day (much of which we've seen). Had she pushed the escaped Supes I think we wouldve seen it.

Their (plus Cate and Sam's) immediate jump to massacring non Supes was hella weird. Like I get that they would be angry and murderous towards the guards and all of The Woods stuff but it feels like a huge leap for them to start just killing random people when they were ostensibly normal five minutes prior, even if they're emotionally unstable.

It's also heavily implied she influenced them into being unmercifully homicidal when she offered Sam her "help." She also had plenty of time to push them while Sam was arguing with his subconscious brother in his cell.

On the other hand, it also seems that every human at the school, even including the milquetoast "social media guy" was *heavily* involved in "the rehab center," so there's maybe some room for playing Devil's Advocate as well.

that was an ending I didn't expect lol.

I think I dug it? I'm guessing that Emma can control her size changing through her emotional state, Sam made her "feel small" and she shrunk. Purging makes her hate herself, so it's a shortcut to that emotional state. I guess binging was her taking control of her situation and that allowed her to grow?

Maybe tied to emotions? Most people are happy when the eat, sad when they throw up so maybe those two actions produce a specific chemical or something? Or a mental thing like she shru k because Sam made her feel small?

Also, Sam was mean to Emma. I no longer like Sam.

Nah! A little chocolate will do

When the helicopter shows up to grab the Vought board, Cate goes and touches the supe that jumps up and attacks it. She also touched Maverick and probably did something to the eye laser girl as well. She was touching a LOT of people throughout the episode, and I was honestly surprised we didn't see her nose start bleeding or something, considering what had happened earlier in the season.

Honestly, I was expecting one or two of our mains to bite it, and the following season would spotlight some other kids at the university. Wonder if they're going to be Boys allies or just doing their own thing

Yeah Sam's treatment of Emma took me right out of the arc. I could understand his falling into a cycle of violence and oppression because of what he went through, but him tearing Emma down didn't feel particularly earned and kind of came out of left field.

It felt like they needed him to be in a completely unsympathetic place by the end of the season for story reasons and so they just kind of wrote him there directly without having it be any kind of real evolution of their relationship. It felt like it would have worked better if they'd done the scenes in a different order, having Cate erase his feelings BEFORE he interacts with Emma.

Yes, because in those 2 instances she needed a specific thing done right away.

She's perfectly happy just to free the kids from The Woods and let them rampage as they please. And if she was controlling them again, why wouldn't she have immediately done it to Sam. He's the strongest by far so it would have made sense for her to mindrape him back into submission.

They showed her pushing the guy to shoot down the helicopter though - I don't think it's a leap to assume that's not the only time she did that. But to be honest those kids had spent months/years being tortured and murdered so I don't think it's ridiculous that their first instinct would be to gently caress people up.

No, she found a new motivation as soon as she realized she could (apparently) push all she wanted while off the meds Shetty gave her and all that happens is her eyes go blood red.

What worries me is that Cate will cross over into the next season of The Boys as Homelander's personal "persuader."

Anyway, Invincible is back now (albeit for a half-season) so who gives a gently caress about what happened here.
