Such a shame, we could've had a cutthroat economics game with cute bougie raccoons smdh Yeah I sold NY Zoo at the convention a few weeks ago, just ... not very interesting. I also really didn't enjoy setup with the stacks of polyominoes on the table in the notches.

What's playtesting like in the Stegmaier house? Like in Scythe one of the board combos is straight up objectively better than any other combo. You'd think things like that come up.

Admiralty Flag posted:I signed up to play On Mars this Saturday. I've never played a Lacerda game before and just saw it's a 4.67 complexity on BGG. The teach video was 45 minutes long. On a scale of 0 to 10, how much will the 90-150 minute playing time be a lie? (None of the others have played On Mars before, either, I believe, but they should all have seen the video.) 90-150 minutes is pretty accurate not including the teach even for early games. Pretty sure our first game (which was 4P) was about 2.5-3 hours. Doctor Spaceman fucked around with this message at 05:59 on Nov 3, 2023 |

Do any Goons have opinions on Weather Machine and where it ranks with Lacerda's? I own it, but it's towards the back of the queue unfortunately.

It also revealed that he doesn't have even a basic knowledge of statistics, and thus he couldn't see the (glaring) issues in the data.

Magnetic North posted:It might be best to create a thread in SA Mart (and link it here) to let those additional protective rules apply. However, when this has come up in the past, the TG mod team have not considered that a requirement, so you can just as easily post here and then take it to PMs at your own risk. Okay, I made a thread! If you have games you'd like to get off your shelf and replace with different ones from someone else's shelf, go post in that thread! If you want any of the games I listed, let me know and what you'd be interested in trading. If I don't want anything you offer, I may just send you the game for the price of shipping (assuming I don't get any other trade offers for it).

Bottom Liner posted:I am eagerly awaiting the follow up post On Mars trip report: 4P, one had played 3-4 times, one had played once, and another guy and I had played about half a game yesterday to get ready for today. The game took about 3.5 hours -- heavy AP going on (probably driven in part by unfamiliarity) plus lots of checking rules and iconography; both of these issues included the two more experienced players. The latter seems like it would dramatically reduce on further playing. I squeezed out a 1 point win, in spite of being short on resources most of the game and minimal tech (only two tiles, including shelters, but I got them to the end). Fortunately, I made and filled a four-hex shelter (and fulfilled a contract for that), which put me over the top. I think there was too little game for the time, but like I said I think we can play faster next time. My favorite heavy games are Brass:Birmingham and GWT. Not sure On Mars ascends to that level, but we're looking at playing it again next weekend, and I think that'll be a more accurate view of the game.
