I have never watched a Mr. Beast video, but every time I've seen people get mad at him it is because of something like him paying for blind people's eye surgery or supporting one of his transgender employees. His content looks asinine, but I don't have anything against him.

Every once in a while it breaks but it gets fixed in a new version of Jdownloader. It was a real hassle about a year ago of it breaking every few days or download speeds being super throttled but it would soon be fixed. Are you using the latest version of JDownloader?

If that's not it, you might need to go check in Settings-->Plugins and then select Youtube from the drop-down and make sure you have valid resolution/file type combinations selected in there. You might have it set to some options that don't exist on Youtube and JDownloader can't find a valid video file.

The last time I tried was a year or two ago. I didn't do it too often before that. I usually downloaded stuff to throw on my phone to watch on planes or if there was a repost of something that was pulled originally, like the White Fox Vs Diamond Cobra BotW episode. I'll download it again and see if it works again. Thanks for the heads up!

Part of the issue is that part of his brand is doing these charitable things, but it just boils down to business. Even if he drops a cool million a year on paying for surgery or whatever, he gets 50 million a year from his videos and sponsorships so it’s just the cost of doing business. Plus he can probably write it off on his taxes anyway. Videos like that will tend to include whoever he helps talking about how thankful they are and how great Mr. Beast is, and it’s kind of gross poverty porn. In short, he’s made a massive business out of pretending he’s a philanthropist. Dude’s worth half a billion dollars at this point. There have also been reports that he’s actually kind of an awful boss who has mistreated his employees badly in the past

I am a spectacularly bad poster and everyone in the Schadenfreude thread hates my guts.
Probably just that burgers (and the usual accompaniment of fries) specifically fare a lot worse after an indeterminate amount of time in a delivery drivers' bag compared to many other cuisines you can get delivered

I've had five guys delivered to me a few times here when I've been lazy and hungover and once or twice I've got lucky and everything was great and hot and the fries still crispy but most of the rest of the time my burger had congealed to a lukewarm lump and the fries were cold and soggy

Just an old man yelling at the cloud.

It was pretty good during that very short time span when companies were hiring people in house to deliver, but now that it's all Grubhub & Doordash it just sucks. Food is always cold and/or soggy and it takes 45m to get a burrito delivered.

I just want a good burrito without having to put on pants, is that too much to ask?

There's nothing inherently wrong with the concept of meals coming to you. You just need to be aware that some meals are less likely to survive delivery than others. Burgers are extremely low on the survivability list. Pizza is very high on the list. Even cold pizza is still good.

I've been kicking around a little idea for a mortar-delivered burrito. A few bucks for a gps receiver, steerable parachute, and a microcontroller should be able to pinpoint a delivery to your lawn/balcony a feasible portion of the time. Make the consumer pay a deposit for the hardware, which can be returned at leisure through the mail or neighborhood drop-boxes.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with giving minimum-wage food workers access to a mortar cannon.

Before you go nay-saying, I urge you to read up on the prior art.

Fries end up getting the steam treatment when transported, it's true. You don't even have to order a delivery, just ordering food to go is enough. No matter how fast you get home and eat, the fries will usually have gotten enough moisture build-up to lose their crispiness and the bottom ones will get soggy.

But burgers in general, I disagree. They're fine assuming you don't live halfway across the city or something, but at that point any food is going to be cold by the time it gets to you (and no, cold pizza really isn't good, especially if it got cold in the box and now tastes like cardboard). Obviously burgers like any food aren't as good when they sit in transit for minutes before you eat them rather than piping hot delivered straight from the kitchen, but still more than enjoyable to eat assuming the burger joint itself is any good.

The key to keeping takeout fries crisp is to open the container, especially if it’s styrofoam. Let the steam out. Some places will cut a hole in the top of the container, but usually not. Opening the top of the bag for most fast food fries in a cardboard open-top container is enough, if the fries are hot.

Assuming the fries are hot out the grease and home is 10-15 minutes away, your fries should still be good when you get home to eat. Of course assuming fast food fries are going to be hot is a pretty bold assumption, it’s quite common to get cold fries even if you’re eating in.
