It's not even true that the USA has no control over those weapons being used to strike civilians. It controls the GPS they use for targeting and could easily restrict access.

US planning to send $320m in precision bombs to Israel: WSJ

The newspaper reported that the Biden administration sent formal notification to congressional leaders of the planned transfer at the end of October.

The transfer would be Spice Family Gliding Bomb Assemblies, which are a type of precision guided weapons fired from planes, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The transfer would include “support, assembly, testing and other technology related to the weapons use”, the newspaper reported.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Al Jazeera.

I think they just have nothing to work with. This has been a war where the civilian casualties have been so high and the reporting so accurate and gruesome there's just nothing to spin without immediately losing credibility. Hasn't stopped a bunch of outlets from trying of course, but it does mean a large number of the US population just isn't buying it and so the government just shrugs it's shoulders and gives the meekest possible admonitions.

What is the sentiment from the israeli arab population (again im very ignorant on this topic) on israels current actions?

Well they're at risk of being seen as terrorists if they protest in anyway and literally live in segregation, so they got their own issues going on

quote:

Arab citizens of Israel mostly live in Arab-majority towns and cities, some of which are among the poorest in the country, and generally attend schools that are separated to some degree from those of Jewish Israelis.

quote:

According to a study commissioned by the Arab Association of Human Rights entitled "Silencing Dissent," over the period 1999–2002, eight of nine of the then Arab Knesset members were beaten by Israeli forces during demonstrations.[205] Most recently according to the report, legislation has been passed, including three election laws [e.g., banning political parties], and two Knesset related laws aimed to "significantly curb the minority [Arab population] right to choose a public representative and for those representatives to develop independent political platforms and carry out their duties".[206]

The Knesset Ethics Committee has on several occasions banned Arab MKs that the committee felt were acting outside acceptable norms. In 2016, Hanin Zoabi and Jamal Zahalka were banned from plenary sessions for four months and Basel Ghattas for two months after they had visited families of Palestinian attackers killed by Israeli security forces.[207] Ghattas was again banned for six months in 2017 over charges of having smuggled cell phones to Palestinian prisoners[208] and Zoabi was banned for a week for having called IDF soldiers "murderers."[209]

In 2016, the Knesset passed a controversial law that would allow it to impeach any MK who incites racism or supports armed struggle against Israel.

And thats what they do to their politicians. Imagine you're just a random Israeli arab. You'll def be rounded up and sent to forever secret jail for expressing anything.

I was just looking at the comment under this, because it seemed almost too perfect, and he says it was said repeatedly on Israeli media 14.

I'm imagining being a summercamp tiktok 'soldier' who can normally always get g/f pizza if the rations aren't nice, and being sent into the hellscape of destroyed apartment buildings that reek with the corpses of murdered civilians to try and fail to kill their remaining families, and all of this is happening only a few miles from my safe, comfortable, normal life just beyond the wall.

I know I'd be seeing angry ghosts for the rest of my life.

I feel like this is partly the result of our mainstream media being, to some extent, "true believers."

This means that they're willing to believe anything the US government tells them as long as there's any "room" to do so. In the case of something like Iraq, they can simply claim that the missiles were hitting bad guys, and the ones that don't were honest mistakes.

But with the Gaza bombing, there's no real way to maintain this narrative, because there's countless direct video and photo evidence as it happens.

The funny/sad thing is that, contrary to what you're saying, I think they could have maintained the propaganda on this by simply directly lying and saying "no they didn't" to claims of Israel murdering thousands of civilians and never showing the photis/videos to the contrary. It would work on most people over the age of 50. But enough media people are true believers that they can't completely ignore inconvenient info. They'll try to interpret it in a way favorable to the US as much as possible, but there are limits to this.

We see similar things with our government and "deep state." In the past people were aware that all the stuff about "democracy" was bullshit, but now most of these people seem to have forgotten how "the sausage is made."

yes, but they are combating groundswell movements in all of those countries and in many LGBT rights have significantly improved over time. if these people actually gave a poo poo, stopping the genocide would be the first step for advancing that agenda.

its a nonsense talking point to begin with as genocide is wrong and must be stopped regardless of the views on any subject the victims or their leadership might have.
