I'd estimate a lap to be 450metres. 100 laps is like a marathon distance. this was mapped out with exactly the number of paces Tom took from Normandy to Berlin!

keep punching joe posted:When a bunch of fash descended on Glasgow September 15 2014 to kick lumps out Indyref supporters it was reported as clashes between pro union and independence activists. It was actually the bnp and rangers hooligans on a rampage in the city centre for the day. Lol I remember going into the city centre that day and getting the escalator out of buchanan street subway and being trapped moving upwards as I heard deafening yelling, then gradually seeing the union jacks coming into view. It was absolute carnage. Just packs of feral rangers types chanting and screaming at anyone they suspected of being pro-indy/a Catholic/a minority. My Irish Catholic diaspora partner was absolutely bricking it, even moreso than the time we accidently ended up trying to get on the subway at ibrox on a match day. It was really an absolutely ridiculous day, and the way the BBC reported on it was predictably shocking. The indyref was in many ways a kind of proto-corbynism, and the experience of living through it really did inoculate me to what came later. I remember a bunch of English friends were being like 'oh, wow, turns out the BBC is poo poo and biased and will do anything to undermine any kind of progressive politics' in 2017-19 and I was just thinking 'yeah, I've been saying that for years, but good you're catching on'

Lord Ludikrous posted:As the car park isn’t owned by the nursery and it’s a free car park presumably owned by the local authority then there’s nothing that can really be done as nursery visitors have no more entitlement to use the spaces than any other road user does. Thanks for that, I need to look into it a bit more to be honest. What's the limit to that though? Like what if a company took over a whole car park for their vehicles? Other than pissing a lot of people off would it just be a complaint to the local council and hoping that something is done? One of the vans has sat in the same space for about a month now, it's basically abandoned. Microplastics posted:How do you know those two large vans aren't being used to drop off several dozen toddlers? If anything that's a more efficient use of the parking space Could be, I mean the urls on the vehicles go to 404s so it's not like the fuckers are doing much in the way if business (though Googling the company name also comes back with a slew of complaints about the quality of their work).

I used to live in a small close in Mitcham that had about 5 spaces for cars to park on the street for free. Two large vans parked in them permanently, if either of them moved a third would always take their space until they returned. They didn't belong to anyone in the close. They were road legal so the council wouldn't do anything. Pretty sure they were used for storage. Betjeman fucked around with this message at 21:58 on Nov 7, 2023 |
