it's wild how it's both the best form of microtransaction since you can recoup your money once you finish playing, and the only form of nft that makes sense since there is a reason to actually want one.

There are a bunch of other workshop tool updates today, along with a host of other fixes and adjustments to CS2. Check out the notes, play some matches, and keep that feedback coming!

Look at the Aug Midnight Lily, it base coat colour was flipped. Looks like pixelated rear end now. Classic knives wear has been greatly reduced. This would be a good thing except the blade has the wave pattern that is fully visible in a certain float range without paint damage to the other parts of the knife. That has been messed up.

Seems like on most of the night skins the basically black dark blue turned into washed out lovely greyish blue.

My cheap, lovely FT M9 night looked like a hosed up black laminate, which I liked. Now it looks like a crayon.

I saw a high float stained classic knife where the edge had just completely disappeared. Not so classic anymore.

Apparently surfing is working just fine and now we just have to wait for community server hosts to implement the plugins for timers, records, restarting, etc. and we'll be back in business. This workshop update has really made me a lot happier with CS2, the community is really the heart and soul of this series and it felt so soulless without the workshop and community servers. I'm excited to see what the game looks like in a year. I'm praying for a big shakeup to the competitive map pool after the major and maybe the first operation

Spend 3 days going from 3.7k to 4k mmr. Play 1 game at 4k - lose 300 mmr. Rinse and repeat for a month.

I know you're just bustin' balls but the real issue is that once you hit 4k MMR you actually can't lose MMR anymore. Pair that with folks who have no idea how to play but lucking into 10 wins in placements and you have a 4k MMR range that varies WILDLY in terms of skill, temperament, microphone ownership, etc. So it's not until you hit 5K that you actually get consistent games, but it's hard to do that solo-queueing with those maniacs. I just kept eating the poo poo until I hit 6k.

anytime I hit 4k I just get lovely teammates no mic havers "Sorry boys i don't know anubis at all im bad" players and get sent back down to 3500 where it's a bit better.

I'm sure they'll tweak the ranking stuff soon enough - it's kind of bonkers.

I gave up on Premier and moved to FACEIT and my matchmaking experience has improved drastically. The ELO system is much better in my opinion and teammates actually use a mic and know what the hell they're doing. Seems like that's what most people above 10k are doing because of cheaters and also how hosed up the Premier point system can be. It's actually nice that Valve forced 64 tick servers for CS2 so my nade lineups work on both Comp/Premier and FACEIT. I couldn't care less what tickrate the server is set at, I just want a good anti-cheat, functional ELO system, and fair games. Here's to another 10+ years of split playerbase due to Valve's incompetence / stubbornness :yotj:

Famethrowa

I think premier experience is heavily dependent on region and ELO. At 6-7k I've had a lot of silver teammates vs MGE/DMG level players recently.

A couple friends who have never really played video games joined our little CS group and we're having to run them through Casual until they get enough levels for Comp and I'm having a blast. They haven't really gotten the hang of strafing or what to buy so I just told em to get P90s and go to town.

I think there's probably a lot of cheating in mm, considering how many faceit level 3's are suddenly cs2 talents that carry games vs 10's, but I'll say this for premier, I've been having a lot more close games than I feel like both faceit and mm offered in csgo, so something sure seems to be working wrt premier ranks, in my completely anecdotal experience

but it's just a matter of time until one of my friends have a valve-related meltdown and we go back to playing exclusively on esportal or faceit

We had a streak of a few days where almost every game was sus… Started wondering if someone’s trust factor was low or something lmao. Been trying to get from 9.5 to 10k for a couple days now but the games haven’t been too fishy.

Idk we’ll see, if we start running into more cheaters I wouldn’t be surprised if we move to faceit. gently caress valve for just being ok with letting third parties run the only halfway decent matchmaking and letting theirs rot.

From what I've experienced, all your losses sub-4k are not free but deferred and will be subtracted from your rating on your first 4k+ loss. I guess this is to prevent players from pooling at 0 mmr? It creates a constant churn sub-4k so it kinda makes sense? Maybe valve tried to solve the "elo hell" that gamers are always on about... but they never explained the system to the gamers so instead they complain about it on reddit

Insertion and Insertion II were such fun maps, Valve needs to throw the casual players a bone and flesh out the hostage mode more. I love sweating my rear end off in some PUGs but I didn't get into CS all those years ago from the competitive side, it was from having a blast goofing around on hostage maps and community servers. I know the competitive side of CS is way more popular now than back in the day but it feels like the casual-er aspects of the game have been left to rot like seasonal events, yearly operations, war games, etc.

One of the great HL mods that blew up for a good while back when modding was alive. Sort of like a Matrix / John Woo mod where you mixed gunplay, kungfu and katanas.

Awesome movement system - running and flipping up walls, crazy dives and dodges, bullet time (in multiplayer and it actually worked) and the list went on. Clowned on CS for visuals at the time and had a lot of destructible items / parts of the map when CS didn’t.
