oh dang my bad then. maps kept on telling me to put in a plate number to show the best route even outside of Beijing.

Quito is even more aggressive and you straight up cannot drive on some days if your plate ends in a certain set of numbers it was rad.

Hey guys, needing some help for a little educational effort around here. I'm looking for an image that has the government structure of the PRC very neatly outlined, with the different powers etc. I think I have seen it here or maybe other thread but can't find it

Thanks in advance!

I've been in places with worse drivers but China will always be the most dangerous place in the world to cross the street

Bad combination of wide roads, American-style driving, and a severe shortage of traffic signage. Highways are pretty tightly controlled so you see very few fatal high-speed crashes but you better watch yourself near normal surface streets

Guangzhou was the worst. all that plus super packed streets plus the jankiest ways to move packages I've ever seen. two dudes on a scooter, one dude on the back sitting backwards holding the handles of a handcart with like 6 massive boxes on it

Guangzhou has a bit less street lights for crossing compared to more modern cities like SZ but it also has one of the most insanely complex metros I've seen yet so it's not hard to get around on foot.

Guangzhou's older districts have narrow roads and slower traffic flow.

So while it's scary to cross the road when you do it the first few days, you just wait for the herd of pedestrians and cross the road together and it will be fine. Also look at the eyes of the bus drivers when you are crossing so they step on the brakes.

Was it the one that showed how government departments are paired with a CPC organ for oversite and showed how local elections flow into higher bodies that elect the NPC? I think that was a R. Guy post from the previous thread.

I am usually pretty neutral on most of Modi's foreign policy moves. I think he dances between all sides on the fence to get the maximum profit with the resource India has.

But this moved lost me. He crossed the line from a cunning politician to an awful populist demogogue. History will remember this.

This is worse than siding completely with the former Afghani government and had the Indian diplomatic corp promptly kicked out by the Taliban government.

taiwan too https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/south-asia/india-plans-taiwan-labour-supply-pact-while-china-tensions-brew

India and Taiwan are forging closer economic ties with a plan to send tens of thousands of workers to the island as early as December, according to senior officials familiar with the matter, potentially angering neighbour China.

Taiwan could hire as many as 100,000 Indians to work at factories, farms and hospitals, the officials said, asking not to be identified as the discussions are private. The two sides are expected to sign an employment mobility agreement by as soon as December, the people said.

Taiwan’s ageing society means it needs more workers, while in India, the economy is not growing fast enough to create enough jobs for the millions of young people who enter the labour market every year.

RSS goons aren't going to be the ones lining up for this, its just going to be desperate labourers becoming 'guest workers' like the ones in the gulf arab states. and soon to be taiwan too it looks like.

although idk, maybe taiwan won't treat them like complete dogshit and also offer a path to residency (doubt this tho). the ones that go to israel are going to be treated horribly i imagine. i wonder if they'll make them sign anti-miscegenation 'no sex with jews' clauses in their contracts like they do with some of the white collar jobs

I heard nothing of this from the Taiwanese media. A quick search show only a government news outfit reported it 1 month ago. I really doubt its going to happen on the 100k scale.

Taiwan already hires lots of Vietnam laborers, both legally and illegally. I doubt the Taiwan companies will hire Indians over the Vietnamese they are more familiar with.
