I may find Assail psykers super annoying but I'll give them this: They're the only way you're going to do "kill 1000 dregs with ranged" in any reasonable time frame, because any normal sane person would just stab most of them.

If I get the blessing that offers a bonus to cleave attacks after hitting multiple targets with one swing would it be possible to get enough cleave to hit two maulers with one heavy revved attack from an eviscerator? Or will carapace armour stop all cleave and make my charged attack single target only?

The revved attack will always stop on a hard target now. It didn't always used to be the case.

In that case I think I'd be best off going for a trait that gives bonus against Flak armour. I'm already overkilling unarmoured hordes so I'd rather build up damage against the tougher scabs and then use my Ult when it comes time to lay out heavier damage on carapace enemies.

I would not worry too much about what you're putting on weapons until you hit 30 and start pushing higher difficulties. This advice is of course moot if you're already there.

Majority of balance discussion revolves around Damnation difficulty. anything lower and you can bring literally whatever, good play matters more than having enough DPS on lower difficulties.

Clearly heretical, Ogryns are notoriously claustrophobic and have a difficult time fitting into vehicles unless their commissar handler says it's okay.

I'm level 25 so I'm homing in on tier 5 missions. I can pull off Heresy level runs with a good team.

Okay, is it possible for demonhosts to just spawn on you? Nearly lost a game to one just rising out of a ramp right next to the squad and immediately aggroing. I guess it’s possible we all were blind, but it felt like bullshit of the highest order.

No psyker builds I can recall have been nerfed into the ground that I can recall, recently. Voidstrike as well as assail remains strong.

I've definitely 100% had that happen before. The one time I encountered it, it was a bug with the same spot being an issue reported by other players, out in one of the maps where you're in the open air in daytime.

The only meaningful psyker "nerf" I know of was fixing warp charges making the cooldown on the telekinetic dome instant. Which was obviously an unintended bug.

I'm not saying it's nerfed to the ground but they took 50 power off regular assail and added 90 power to targeted assail. I think the 7.5% toughness on Soulsteal was reduced from 15%.

A lot of other things got fixed/buffed. I personally still spam the poo poo out of regular assail to great success.

A bit of an adjustment to be sure but I think my man will come around.

Yes, it's a rare bug, helps to know the spawn locations since there are set places they can only spawn, I even got a video somewhere of me following behind my friend and I see the daemonhost spawn and rise up behind him and his shriek 2 seconds later.

Not exactly the same, and I'm bad at this, but I'm starting to memorize the invisible lines that you cross which are typical boss spawn triggers. Some enterprising streamer should put out a video with all of that stuff timestamped on the youtubes IMO.

With enough runs you will eventually get a feel for where the invisible "tripwires" are for boss spawns, just pay attention to where the furthest ahead person is when you hear the boss roar.

I still routinely see psykers who never pull out a weapon, so maybe they need to hit it again.

But another good thing about Assail and EP Surge being busted as hell right now is I'm going fuckin' warp speed on the "revive people who've been captured" penance because a bunch of ding-dongs queue into damnation and die every time a rager breathes on them.

edit: If you bring this up to reddit they will hatecrime you and lecture you that the psyker is the quarterback and everyone else's job is to form a meatshield around him.

Yeah it's sweet isn't it? I should try the Columnus. I'm trying with a Recon Las for Infernus and with the rate of fire you positively poo poo critical hits.

Personally I like warp charges with gaze slightly more than destiny stacks with gaze, I enjoy gaze being available more frequently with the cooldown reduction and destiny stacks can be so unreliable, sometimes it just tags one guy 30m above you behind a wall taking cover and when you try to shoot him an ally shoots him first then it tags a mauler and someone else gets the last hit (etc).

Gaze is not available more frequently with Warp Charge. It is bugged so that Gaze doesn't receive the cooldown right now. When that bug is fixed, though, I agree that Warp Charge will be the winner by a country mile for gun psyker keystones.

One thing to note in Disrupt Destiny's defense: according to that psyker guide, if an entity with Soulblaze *on it* dies while marked, you get the reward. So what I haven't tried yet but mean to is an Illisi with Blazing Spirit and Shred plus the Wildfire talent to spread Soulblaze all over the place. Should result in much higher Destiny stack accrual.

Hit level 30 with my Zealot. What is more difficult, a regular Damnation mission or a Heresy level Maelstrom mission? I did a Maelstrom run at Heresy tier and it wad brutal. We only survived because of a crazy Veteran player who then became a jerk on the mic at the end telling everyone to go back to Malice.

Nehru the Damaja

Depends a ton on the maelstrom modifiers. Heresy with like "some green guys are tougher" is barely different than heresy. Heresy with like lights out, sniper gauntlet, monstrous specialists is going to be hell on earth.

edit: But also damnation tends to have stronger teammates than Heresy of any type, so that helps.

I was away for a few months and then came back following the patch. Is Lights Out still a thing?

The closest I've seen is Ventilation Purge, which is still fairly well lit, just hazy. Or did they just change the modifier to make it brighter?

Way back when it first dropped (and then was immediately removed for a month), I thought it was legitimately dark.

Made for a hell of a tense game, especially because the Lights Out levels also had extra snipers

If you can handle Heresy without being carried, you can def handle Damnation, all other factors and modifiers being equal. Faster pace, more poxwalkers, tougher elites. The core gameplay is the exact same, so if you know the fundamentals for your class you'll be fine. But! Damnation is where you really want to have a good loadout. The right blessings and perks make a noticeable difference. If you haven't already worked up weapons and curios that synergize, this is a good time.

Everyone on the team needs to know what they're doing, but from what I've seen the people pubbing Damnation are generally better players than Heresy pubbies.

Lights Out is still a thing, it is different from Ventilation Purge which is the hazy fog that still has the ability to see things. I honestly don't know if Lights Out has extra snipers (although I have seen Vent Purge paired with More Snipers a few times as actual modifiers), but I do believe it has a greater chance for daemonhost spawns.

TBH I barely notice the difference between 'regular' Heresy and 'regular' Damnation, esp on my Zealot. Enemies hit slightly harder (which your Zealot just absorbs) and there are slightly more of them (packs of Crushers or Maulers are not at all uncommon) but other than that they are surprisingly similar experiences, Heresy is just slightly more forgiving. I found Malice to Heresy to be way more of a leap than Heresy to Damnation. I think Heresy with Shock Gauntlet or High Intensity is arguably harder than an unmodified Damnation.
