There's nothing really wrong with noting that this has all gone down a little weirdly, or that announcing a game with a trailer and demo on Nintendo Treehouse in 2019 and then going silent for four years is suggestive - although not definitive - of a plan having gone very awry but I draw the line at getting actually angry or really any emotion at all about it. I've mentioned it before in this thread I think but I've been waiting, nominally, for like ten years now for a different retro-styled metroidvania I kickstarted called Heart Forth, Alicia, and mostly I just find it funny (and, like Silksong, the developer insists it's still getting made but refuses to publicly commit to a timetable). I'm not about to run out of video games. It's healthy to look forward to things. Some of them won't pan out. I only need to discover one transcendent masterpiece every five years or so for this to have all been worth it. Bapanada.

i understand impatience but i'll never understand looking at Hollow Knight and then thinking it's a bad thing that Team Cherry are perfectionists every single Metroidvania in recent memory that isn't Hollow Knight tries to imitate it and falls short because they're not as polished, especially with respect to animation, tells, level design, things that require a ton of time and iteration and playtesting to get just right. TC even went back after release and improved a bunch of bosses they didn't feel were up to standards, for free, which goes to show how committed they are to their craft. e: on top of that they're hopefully not crunching like some other studios i can think of that produce similar quality on a relatively faster timescale (e.g. Fromsoft) Tuxedo Catfish fucked around with this message at 17:59 on Nov 14, 2023 |

Same. In all honesty Silksong actually releasing will give me about the same amount of endorphins as imagining Team Cherry taking an eternal vacation and swimming McDuck-style in a pool of gold coins.

all of my favorite games either had serious delays in development or were a small team of devs just going hog wild with no management breathing down their backs to enforce deadlines. so i don’t really mind any of this. bapanada all the same though because man i really want to play it
