The novel is a classic. The movie isn't bad or anything it's just kind of slight compared to what it's adapting. It's like if there was a One Hundred Years Of Solitude movie and it was like, fine. But yeah, it's also definitely not a comedy at all.

It was definitely helpful to have a book on hand for some passages, but the narrator captured the playfulness and gravitas of the book perfectly, and the character voices made it much easier to remember who was who as the cast of the Abbey expanded

I got to the part where the main character was having a vision and the narration just listed animals he saw for like a minute and a half and I thought "am i enjoying this"
