Event Horizon chat has been over for some pages now but I just started re-watching it thanks to that... and lol, of course the airlock the rescue ship uses to dock to the EH is number XIII.

The annoying thing about the Hobbit movies is that there's a good 2 hour movie in there *somewhere*. But it's buried under a mound of horseshit like a love triangle between a dwarf, Logolas, and another elf they invented for the sole purpose of having a love triangle.

There is so much insanity in the Hobbit movies that have been mindwiped. Remember when giant CGI worms showed up and then hosed off in the span of 30 seconds? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW-IgJHM3cY&t=18s I actually forgot about the Random Elf Name Generator elf until now.

Zero One posted:The stock is down more than half since the merger. What an incredible article. Its hard for me to pick my favorite quote but it might be this one: "There’s an ironclad, if unwritten, rule among Hollywood executives to never personally hype a movie before its release. It’s partly just superstition, but it’s also an acknowledgment of the intrinsically unpredictable nature of the business — “nobody knows anything,” as the screenwriter William Goldman once put it. Only the audience could make a hit. But Zaslav was determined to try anyway. “It’s a wow,” he said of “The Flash” on an otherwise undazzling earnings call in February. “I’ve seen it three times,” he told a room full of movie-theater owners at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas in April. “To me, it’s the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen.” In fact the early buzz on the movie was pretty good, but Zaslav had seemingly put a Hollywood curse on it: Why was this studio chief talking up one of his own movies like that? It must be worse than everyone thought. “The Flash” bombed. Having been expected at one point to earn at least $85 million on opening weekend, it cleared just $55 million."

That one extra sucked because I think the story is that Evangeline Lilly specifically made them promise not to put her in another love triangle after she got burned out by Lost and then they sneaked it in, in scenes she wasn't in.

Most hyperspace/other dimension travel is made to madden the (human) observer, especially in recent space opera. At least in the majority I've read. Especially those that have god-like ai, who do all the driving and were mostly created for that purpose, before they then took over. I don't think The Culture has this though.

They company they had doing background checks didn't bother with Ryan Jenkins because he was Canadian, so they didn't see his history of domestic violence arrests. He was a runner-up on Megan Wants a Millionaire, which was cancelled mid-way through the season when he was named a suspect in the murder of Jasmine Fiore. Then he killed himself and VH1 never aired the third season of I Love Money which he won.

Being on Reality TV appeals to people who want to be famous more than anything, which means you're going to get that combination of narcissism and megalomania that makes them think they are above the law and justified in domestic/sexual abuse. This is in contrast to scripted television, which appeals to people who want to be famous more than anything, which means you're going to get that combination of narcissism and megalomania that makes them think they are above the law and justified in domestic/sexual abuse. Though on a serious note, I think the real connection between Reality TV stars and predation scandals is that these people are really just nobodies with no future in Hollywood, so nobody is trying to cover for them the way they might for traditional TV stars. They don't have the clout to stop would-be whistleblowers from getting hired from future productions and, in many cases, they're not even essential to the show's future, so they can get fired without everyone else losing their job. They might be tyrants on set, but they have zero reach beyond their show, and even then, it's got a limit—if a dating show contestant has a history of abuse coming to light, the studio can dump him and still make another season. Can't do that as easily with figures like Jonathan Majors or Justin Roiland.
