Yeah, fair, I'd rather have another Double Dash than like the "optimized" version of Mario Kart Gumball Gumption posted:Just picked that book up and I love it The tables in the back half are so good, you can roll up the lore for an entire mission in like 5 minutes

ScootsMcSkirt posted:sounds good. will probably just stick with Kiwami 2 then 6 if you're talking about narrative gulf then y2 -> 6 would definitely be it, lol but you get the core concept, I think any of them can be enjoyed perfectly well on their own merits. there's just going to be a lot of plot cohesion you'll be missing. every main game starts with a little "do you want a barebones rundown of the series and dramatis personae up to this point" and there's a option in the menu where you can get descriptions of all the players and their relationships to each other, it'll be fine

Every Japanese developer with anything left to release is putting out games in the first three months of 2024 because that's the last quarter for the financial year.

the main risk with jumping around in yakuza is that it's a contiguous narrative so the games have no problem spoiling the endings and major beats of what came before. it's like jumping ahead a season in a tv show

yes, they're overall p self-contained stories and the main flow is kiryu getting increasingly old and sick of his past life dragging him back into things when he just wants to live quietly with his family, until it all comes to a head in 6

I think narratively, the alluded references would go over literally every head. Mechanically it seems to have all the series mainstays. gaiden is gonna be completely lost on you if you haven't played at least 6, it's in a lot of ways an extension of that story I'll have my thoughts on gaiden and its place in everything when I finish it

I have never played 6 and the Joryu's motivations are immediately apparent, explained, and straightforward.

I'm busy blendering my way through Elden Ring again (turns out using a real weapon is a lot easier than doing the whole drat thing with a bow) so I cannot fault anyone else's taste in silly violent games.

Whomever made the enemy sprites for Rondo should have gotten royalties for years considering how often they were reused in Iga's games.
