Zero VGS posted:I mean like an option to check on your own end, every 15 minutes or so. Counting from the second you enable it, so everyone isn't doing a request at the same moment in time. Ublock origin autoupdates filter lists every hour by default, but you might have to relaunch your browser and then wait for a cooldown timer: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Advanced-settings ctrl+f for update in this settings list to the options you can set. edit: yeah looks like the default is to not interupt the plugin when an update takes place, so you have to enable/disable it or reset your browser: "extensionUpdateForceReload Default: false. uBO 1.23.0 and above. If set to true, restores update behavior from before 1.22.3b ("Prevent uBO from being reloaded mid-session "), the extension will unconditionally reload when an update is available; otherwise, the extension will reload only when being explicitly disabled then enabled, or when the browser is restarted." is there not a script that can just update ubo's lists so i dont have to do it manually?

uBO updates them every 12 hours, you only need to update manually if YouTube has updated their blocking in the time between your filters updating.

Vampess posted:They did change to Manifest V3, but the big thing was that they wouldn't have backwards compatibility with V2, which has the Web Request stuff that adblockers use. But afaik, they've delayed removing V2 functionaiity indefinitely. Welp, that didn't take long. Apparently there's a Ublock Lite based on MV3, but it's not as good as Origin, due to the limitations of MV3.

I wanna hear from the people who are like "actually corporations deserve our money, it's good to pay to be a product, the people actually making the stuff we enjoy don't deserve fair compensation". They're always a riot.

I was dumb and panic dl'd uBo, when all I needed to do was refresh and decache AdNauseum, and this is from someone who watches Yt so rarely, (YTDLP rocks my world forever though). Also yeah I'm also looking forwards to the next instalment of "here's why a multibillionaire panopticon gouging more money from us, or trying to is good"

Are there any interesting Mozilla based browsers out there besides Firefox that are worth using? I seem to remember those being around years ago. I used K-Meleon for awhile years ago and liked it. I'm shocked to see it's still around, although the updates seem infrequent.

Uh, did Google Identity ever fix their poo poo and get things working with Manifest V3, or are we going to have a bunch of impersonation issues whenever Google's management forces this loving thing to rollout next year? Last I heard it was still only really functioning with MV2.

I've been trying out Firefox on my laptop the last week and... it's poo poo on it. It's an old arse Sony Vaio (It has an easily removeable battery!) but Firefox caused it to keep the fans running non-stop, refused to go into Sleep mode and would constantly freeze up for minutes at a time. Chrome doesn't behave like that at all on this. Memory hog Chrome. I don't get it

Shouldn't "boring but works well" be the requirement?

Saw some nice ads today. Haven't seen them before. Was pretty entertaining. One of them repeated later but I successfully tuned it out and got some meditation time in. Anybody else doing this?

Wow. That was super easy to import just about everything from Chrome to Firefox. Took like 5 seconds. To be honest, the only reason I switched from Firefox to Chrome was in 2010 when I got a job at Google and that's what they had so I just got used to it and switched at home. Back then I think FF still had memory leak issues and it was a hog on resources in general.
