Normally anything people like Musk say or do can and will be forgiven by the media and corporations because it is trivially easy to do so. The offending party puts out a half-assed non-apology written by an intern, and/or they simply shut up for a while so that people forget. Musk is incapable, not merely unwilling, of doing either of these things. I don't think we can necessarily say that this isn't going to go away and that the corporations and their mouthpieces wont come crawling back to Musk anyway - there's plenty of reasons to believe they are vile enough that they will - but this absolutely is different in a meaningful way from how things usually play out and Musk, like Trump, represent a new breed of shitlord who do all the same poo poo these monsters have done for centuries but who are unwilling to even pretend not to be doing these things, and so it's fundamentally different. Musk really did bring about a singularity, just not the one he thinks. He's a political/social singularity like Trump is. All the normal pre-X norms and rules are being re-evaluated and can no longer be use to reliably predict the future.

However, Twitter isn't identifying the bad content and likely isn't willing to put any effort into actually doing that and would rather lie about results. The idea that this is a rare occurrence is absurd. Take Elon's "Hitler was right!" tweet. How many millions of times was that served to Twitter users and there were zero ads served along side it? Yeah, the claim doesn't even pass the sniff test.
