This is so strange that I feel like I unintentionally became part of someone's fetish just by watching it. Not cool, perverts!

From pages and days ago, but reminds me of personal shad. I was in about 4th grade and on vacation with my friend's family. It was the first time I had ever visited the ocean. So I go out and get into the water and get used to it, standing in water just up to my ankles. Friend's mom wants to take some pictures so they call my name. I look back and she's pointing the camera at me and telling me to smile, so I do. Then she says "Wave!". So I waved. That's not what she meant. Seconds later I'm bowled over by a wall of water and rolling along the sandy beach. Good times.

All tortoises are turtles, but turtles aren't always tortoises, IIRC. Anyway they rule and there's a reason they haven't really changed much is 50+ million years

Do tortoises smell bad? I think they’d be a cool pet, but every home with a reptile pet I’ve been in has smelled really bad.

I've never owned one, but I thought the smells for those kinds of pets generally had more to do with the owners not keeping up with environmental cleanliness. I could be wrong though, that's all secondhand.

Tortoises use their offensive piss smell as a defence mechanism so they at least have the ability to make things reek.

The thing about a pet tortoise is you better have someone to will it to because it’s going to outlive you.

Same goes for some species of pet bird since a lot of them live for about 30+ years and some even for about as long as a human (80 or so years).

That’s a plus for me cause losing animals you love is always very sad and almost all another animals we can have as pets live a lot less than we do I never had a tortoise myself but a friend of mine had when I was a kid and I don’t remember it smelling bad. At least it wanst a strong odor at all They are very discreet animals, you can forget they exist if you don’t actively look for it, specially if you have a garden or yard for it to live. Which you should, I don’t think they work as apartment pets (perhaps in a closed environment it can smell bad or leave bad odors everywhere)
