Jagged Alliance 2 was a favorite of mine forever, but something is keeping me from getting into JA3 and I think it's just age. I mean, me, aging. I am finding the game too difficult, too tedious, too many things to keep track of. My brain want boom boom number go up now

so what wireless keyboard is good and cool? I heard keychron is neato for customization and poo poo but the entire market of "custo keyboards" seems poisoned by gamer brains and esport promotional poo poo. I ask ye goons what wireless keyboard is cool and good for loving around with the keys and idonno the lights?

Keychron for sure, I use a K13 for work and it’s also paired to my Deck. Recommend buying their stuff through Amazon because QC issues are not unheard of and their customer service is a bit…frustrating. (I also use a Q10 and Q0 on my personal machine.)

Speaking of keyboards, I finally got a mechanical keyboard a few months ago after having the "wrong" kind since forever, and I gotta say, I don't really understand the appeal? It feels different, but not really in a way that's better, and my typing has definitely gotten slower and more error-prone.

Mechanical keyboards won't have ghosting and the inputs will be more sensitive. Plus they go clickity clack.

ghosting or not has nothing to do with the switches though. mechanical keyboards tend to use higher end boards (naturally, since everything else is more expensive too) but you can find moderate priced rubber dome keyboards with N-key rollover (i.e. no ghosting) as well

N-key rollover is actually what prompted me to replace my old keyboard. I was working on a project that sometimes required me to press a bunch of keys at once (the keyboard was emulating multiple controllers) and my workarounds like "plug in several lovely keyboards to multiply the number of keys you can press" were getting a bit ridiculous.

I only use ergonomic keyboards, generally from Microsoft's since they are reliable and comfy. Can't gently caress up my wrists and fingers more than they already are. Also, the noise of mechanical keyboards irks me like few other things. The more power to whoever likes that stuff, but not for me.

Mechanical keyboards can be as quiet as membrane, if you pick quiet switches. And yeah, the Q10’s split “Alice” layout (with dual bs!) is nice. At some point I’ll get around to seriously learning the Moonlander…

I like he clacky sounds but I used to use quiet switches for work. the main thing as someone pointed out, they have higher end boards and can register multiple key inputs and tend to be built better as well.
