Bad, very bad!

If he doesn't end up taking the job I feel like he met a single booster, got a really nice steak and some wine. And then was instructed exactly how he was going to run the program from someone who has no experience in that. With the implication that going against any of these wishes would be the end of his career.

And if he's not lying to us about considering the job he made a business decision in his own interests, because he isn't hurting at UK.

That's gonna be my headcanon at least.

A&M wasting their time with potential up-and-comer coaches when they should be shooting for proven natty winners. And I can think of the perfect coach to turn their program around.

He would oddly maybe fit in somehow? It wouldn't work of course, but I could see insane Aggies liking him quite a bit for the first season or two.

I don’t have a strong take on Stoops one way or another, but if Bjork (the A&M AD) thought he was his guy and got to the altar and then let himself get bullied out of it by the boosters, then he doesn’t need to be the guy holding that job and making the hire.

It was pretty obvious that when 2020 was said and done, other'n Alabama being terrific, the takeaway should've been "that was a weird year and let us never speak of it again."

Not "let's give Tom Allen a $20M buyout."

2020 made people do weird things, like give Tom Allen a $20M buyout, or draft Zach Wilson second overall

I didn’t think that would happen this year with the 14 million dollar buyout but nothing about this year demonstrated this was just a rough adjustment year. It would cost a lot more to keep him. Other than the UTSA and Texas games and blowing out overmatched Sam Houston, UH showed no fight. This could have been a 1-11 year.

So, call Jeff Traylor I guess. UTSA needs to get a demonstration on life in the AAC. Another name getting thrown around today - Glenn Schumann at Georgia.

If it becomes a knife fight UH loses. But fwiw Traylor said last year he wasn’t interested in coming to UH. Could be different situation now with Frank Harris gone.

And gently caress Dana Dimel.

Where do you think you guys look this go-round? I’d think your options are better now in the Big XII and you’ve got an established history of winning (even if Dana clearly mailed it in).

I went for super stud.

Mississippi State fired a 30-something coordinator with zero previous HC experience who was on his way to five wins and might replace him with a 30-something coordinator with zero previous HC experience and terrible baggage. When they fired Arnett so early I figured they had a plan. Maybe they had been looking for a coach for months because they never saw Arnett as more than an interim. This is really disappointing. I suppose Jimbo's firing has complicated things. When A&M hires away somebody's coach that will probably create a better opening than MSU so good candidates are waiting to see how that plays out. Now MSU is damned if they make a choice too early and damned if they wait too long.

Good thing they chose the brave option of hiring the guy associated with a rape scandal who’s been relentlessly unapologetic about it even just this year.

Hard to tell what the budget is but I guess it's going to be pretty high if UH is spending big to make Dana go away. This is going to be a rebuild job. Roster is looking pretty thin.

The names being thrown out so far are kind of lazy - Traylor, Willie Fritz (whom also has no interest), Gary Patterson (why), and Kliff Kingsbury. I think it'll be either be a coordinator from a top ten team (Bryan Hartline?) or a position coach with experience recruiting in Texas (Jeff Banks) and a ton of money for assistants.

When you have one of the worst programs in FBS and bring in Terry Bowden, I'd say 4-8, 4-8, 2-10 maybe slightly exceeds expectations. I don't know who could've realistically expected better than that out of that hire.
