Ah, sorry for the confusion! I just remember the left 4 dead 2 censorship being a big deal back in the day. i also have fond memories of playing goldeneye and perfect dark exclusively with paintball mode to avoid angering parents. Then a friend of mine lent me his copy of Soldier of Fortune and I literally yelped when I first fired a shotgun. good lord.

Tbf, looking at a list of banned/censored games there were quite a few in the late 00's that were targeted entirely due to their violent content. Apart from L4D2 there was also Soldier of Fortune: Payback, Silent Hill Homecoming, Dark Sector, 50 Cent, and others. It's really from 2012 onwards that the focus shifted towards depictions of positive drug use instead.

The Australian ratings system is an absolute joke.

Quake engine chat: So vkQuake development was abandoned in May due to the rising popularity of Ironwail. However the latter hasn't had a release since March, just a few days after the last vkQuake release. Granted there's still commits on the Ironwail GitHub. Anyways, I keep meaning to check out Ironwail but I've been waiting for "the next" release before doing it, which hasn't actually happened.

I’d just take the plunge, it’s a nice port. From personal experience on my weird non-x86 Linux machine my framerates on the vanilla Quake timedemos jumped from ~1000 fps with VkQuake to 1250 fps in Ironwail, which may be meaningless but is still present, and probably bodes well for any number of crazy-demanding Quake maps I haven’t gotten around to playing.

It's only 7.50 now but does it seem likely Sprawl will be on sale at xmas too? I doubt it'll go lower nor would I expect it to but I don't know if I want to jump the gun and spend my precious wallet dollars in case something catches my eye in 3-4 weeks.

Been playing Deus Ex and for some reason I did the entire Clinton Castle section without killing anyone but the game is acting like it was a bloodbath. I guess it at least convinced me to not fret about icing a few guys going forward considering everyone already thinks I'm a crazed gunman.
