I loved that they worked this angle with the "Wormhole X-Treme" storyline. "Plausible Deniability", says General Hammond.

The SG1 crew starts out as clueless people with machine guns going to other worlds and not understanding anything to the United States government ending up being one, if not the, most powerful in the galaxy and the writers were always too scared to tell the story of the Stargate program going public. It'd be like if white people colonized america but it was kept a total secret from everyone in euorpe.

I just watched the Season 6 clip episode where Hammond and Davis reveal the SG program to various ambassadors, and of course Kinsey is there to badmouth them. And for all the alien tech and wormholes and hyperdrives, perhaps its most amazing that the other governments of the world wouldn't absolutely freak out when learning about this. And demanding change. Any criticisms of the SGC within the show always seemed to have an agenda, but for real, the US Government initiating and fighting a war with an alien species, in secret, that very much threatens the entire world is crazy.

the episode where tealc dreams reminded me of something i watched as a kid it was a twilight zone / outer limits shows or movie about an astronaut who wasnt sure if the life he was living was a dream or the nightmares he was having was the reality. in the life he was a hero who stoped the space spiders from invading earth and in the nightmare he is in his shuttle being slowly devoured by a space spider as his shuttle auto pilots back to earth. the spiders were not humanoid in any way it was just a giant spider from space its never explained how they work but its like a primal fear of mine to be unaware which dream / life is real and being unable to wake up. its a pretty good episode though i think it would of been served better to cut fully cut the scene they show in the middle of the episode explaining whats going on or to expand on it and make it a question of which 3 realities is the real one snergle fucked around with this message at 08:08 on Nov 26, 2023 |

I posted about it in this thread during my rewatch but it comes out of absolute nowhere. An alien race so advance that can do all kinds of weird poo poo, but they never encounter it again (in our galaxy) and has seemingly insurmountable technology. It doesn't fit at all with the setting.

Watching Stargate: Universe and French Stewart is in this episode but not as the character he is in the original movie. Its weird.
|
# ? Nov 27, 2023 08:27 |
Only Skaara and Kasuf reprise their roles from the movie. The original plan for SG-1 was for Skaara to be on team SG-1, but Alexis Cruz didn't want to commit that fully. Dunno if it would have worked as well. Besides French Stewart there are only two other actors that were in the movie and also later Stargate bits. Richard Kind is the translator that's miffed when movie Jackson figures out "Star Gate" immediately and asks "who translated this lol" and also a con-man in the Pegasus Galaxy in SG Atlantis, and Kelly Vint Castro plays young Catherine Langford at the beginning of the movie (and finds the Ra amulet) then in Stargate Origins she's some American Agent that meets that version of Catherine and admires the amulet.

And then in Unending they give everything to the Tau'ri.
