It's OK 10 years ago was 1996 right? RIGHT?

Sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I could come up with 10 people who would reliably go to a show with us. (Reliably is the key, vs "oh something came up I don't think I should pay for it.")

Your chronology is exactly correct, to the best of my knowledge.

I still have a few seats to fill, but I don’t think it’ll be hard and I’m using it as my wife’s birthday party as well, so we’re covering the tickets.

It’s fine to not come to something, life happens, but you gotta cover the cost or find someone else to take the ticket! That’s just basic human decency!

Ordered a pair of Oakley (yeah yeah, I know) prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses. I got the frames 30% off and the lenses 50% off.

The store had to special order both the frames and the lenses. They were both supposed to be delivered (to the store and not to me lol) in about a week and a half.

They ended up taking almost 2 months.

I called the store a few times asking where the gently caress was my order and kept getting told they were waiting for my lenses to arrive from the lab, and that they'd call me when everything was ready. Finally on the last call someone took a closer look and figured out what was taking so long. Apparently the lab hosed up on the number of pairs of lenses they were supposed to make, and the store computer kept showing they were waiting on an additional pair of lenses I didn't order. So in fact, the store *did* have my order plus a FREE extra pair of prescription lenses to go with it. Once they discovered that, they shipped me everything along with the (FREE!) extra lenses, and gave me an additional 50% off discount on any Oakley eyeglass frames I want for my trouble.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

My order just arrived today and it turns out there was YET ANOTHER pair of prescription lenses with it. So I actually got TWO free pairs of extra lenses, plus the pair I ordered for 50% off.

So in summary, I got:
• One pair of Oakley sunglass frames, 30% off
• One pair of Oakley prescription polarized sunglass lenses, 50% off
• TWO extra pairs of identical prescription sunglass lenses, FREE
• 50% off any (one) set of Oakley frames I want in the future

I know I'm a dumbass for buying Oakleys and paying ridiculous Luxottica markup in the first place, but all in all I can't help feeling like I came out a little bit ahead on this deal.

For reference, this is about how much a pair of Oakley prescription sunglass lenses normally costs, with polarization and their fancy Prizm poo poo.

Note this is just the price of the lenses. This doesn't even include the frames. Luxottica markup is insane.

Basically I paid like $400 and got somewhere between $800 and $1350 worth of extra poo poo for free, plus whatever the half-off discount is worth, because of a computer mistake.

Suck my diiiiiiiiiick, Luxottica. :unsmigghh:

(they probably think they're gonna persuade me to buy more lens colors for these frames and get my money that way, and hell, they're right)

I get the best lenses they offer with all add-ons through my vision insurance, usually every other year. Then I warranty the lenses when they scratch and usually get multiple replacements over those two years.
But yeah, poo poo's expensive. Even after insurance, I can expect to pay a couple hundred bucks

I'm usually buying Wayfarer frames though I've also gotten the Clubmasters before

i have vision insurance through my job and it's basically worthless. they will pay for 1-2 boxes of contacts per year (not month)... OR same amount of money towards frames and lenses (around 150$ or so iirc) which never comes close to covering the entire thing. it covers an eye exam also which is around 100$ value.
