I saw some YouTube video where a guy watched Into the Spider-Verse in Spanish fifty times. Well -- talked about having watched it fifty times. He did show some before and after clips, and there was quite a difference. Babies do spend a lot of times just listening to language before trying to speak it, so there might be something to the idea. Not to mention the many, many goons who have stated they picked up English from watching TV.

Its that they have literally nothing else to do Like have you ever talked to a 6 year old in your L1? How good are they actually? Now if you were surrounded by loving people who used simple language and progressed with you as you learnt I guarantee you would be better at your L2 in 6 years than a 6 year old

I should rewatch that episode, I love the bit with the French policeman who iirc is one of those really well-animated ones as he's walking through the rain with his cloak.
