Something that seems to have gotten lost in this discussion is why pussy phrenologist posted about fingering corpses in the first place. PP circled seemingly random ones, declared that only trans women had vulva like that, and made the classic terf statement of "I can always tell." Most people found this bizarre, but tried to engage her in good faith, explaining that although her vulva, and others she has encountered may look different, there is nothing unusual about the ones she circled. Some people claimed to be cis women with vulva like she circled, and one person was even the model cast for a specific vulva she circled. So naturally she needed to explain, her knowledge of what vulvas look like isn't personal, it's from her close examination of many cadavers. Blanchard just noticed a perfectly commonplace aspect of women's sexuality and decided it must be a trans thing.

You can admire people for lots of reasons- because they have overcome adversity, for example- but recognize that they are far from perfect. LBJ had some important progressive achievements that are worthy of admiration, but I don’t know anybody who doesn’t think he had a mixed record.

The idea that there’s a “perfect person”, even quilted together out of historical figures and comic book characters, feels off to me, I will say. There are lots of people I admire for some reason or another, but none I idolize or believe to be flawless.

I've definitely known some people who really truly idolize someone else and it's really bizarre to see. When they say "so and so is the best actor/musician/politican/whatever ever" they truly mean it and then go on to list a bunch of complimentary things. They honestly believe that this person is unique and exceptional in a way that no one else in history ever has been and will get steaming mad if you disagree. I have a relative who is like this about a certain singer and he was telling me the other day he watched some reaction video about one of her performances where the dude rated it "only" 9.4/10 and how he left a bunch of angry comments because this person was so negative about her performance. Unbelievably delusional The singer in question is pretty good and has a unique voice, but like c'mon. Dude has just formed a bizarre parasocial relationship to fill a void in his heart and it's painfully obvious
