Skiiers do "snowplows" not "pizzas" but more damningly they do "iron crosses" when they get good enough. Source: watching them from the safety of a snowboard.

I was a children’s ski instructor in the 90s, and we did use the Pizza/french fries method. Tiny little children are incredibly top-heavy, and if you add a heavy helmet, that situation in the video is very common. I was also a snowboarder in the 90s and I still have my jester hat.
