My housewarming party just ended. Four hours, nine people, three Conway Airmegas. All eating in the garage. Everyone fully masked indoors. I stayed masked the whole time. The kid was in her room with an Airmega outside her door. I have a little tickle in my nose and a wee tiny headache. I'm gonna be a wreck for the next ten days.

are expired RATs useless or just ‘less reliable’? also if the box label shows it is expired but the vials inside have a non expired date does that matter?

They might be extended, you can check here: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-covid-19-and-medical-devices/home-otc-covid-19-diagnostic-tests Otherwise I think the failure mode would usually be failure to detect, but I don't know. Zugzwang or Bastard Tetris might though.

stick your rats in the fridge mine are a year past expiration and when I thaw them out and test them they still get a strong C line

If the control line’s good you’re likely good, remember the RATs are less accurate than the nucleic acid based ones. Meanwhile: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.11.26.568730v1 Preprint just hit claiming the opposite of the imprinting of antibodies made after new bivalent vaccinations.

I took the test and the control line was visible but very faint, and zero trace of the test line. Can’t do much about acquiring new tests in the short term, so I’ll just use another one of these tomorrow and give it another chance to throw a positive. Thanks for the info folks

Thanks for the info folks Note that if you are in the US, your household can get 8 free tests; you can also use the free test to treat site to receive a test fairly rapidly and Paxlovid if it dings positive. Also free Paxlovid ends 31 December, at which point the unused doses will be scrapped and the price will increase to $1400. IMC should have to wear a full face opaque mask. Upside down paper bag also acceptable.

I just tried for a second round using a different email, phone, and postal address; it actually started connecting me to a person. I do not want to talk to a person. I'm pretty sure I clicked the same options as last time, though. Is there a new choice-pattern that's more effective in getting a prescription without talking to a person?

Do I have to do anything special if my paxlovid arrives at CVS? Because it's not on my profile and the pharmacist over the phone said they don't see it, but I just got a call half an hour ago that it arrived at the store.

FWIW my wife and I filled it out the same, and I ended up having to talk to someone on the phone and she didn't. I think the site is just glitchy, help told me that wasn't supposed to happen. Are they trying to connect you to a doctor or to customer service? I had a ten second call with a doctor - he just asked me if he was speaking to me, if my birthday was correct, and said sorry that I got infected and Paxlovid is on the way.
