Saw Godzilla -1 today it was really really good. Only minor gripe would be that the ending was a little more saccharine than I’d have liked.

I'm thinking of the opening of Suspiria where you get the close up of the heart getting stabbed, or the ridiculous blood spurting in Tenebrae, stuff like that.

Yeah, it wasn't like constant, but when it was there it was more often than not memorable+absurd I loved X and I looooooooooooooooooooooooooved Pearl, so I already knew I'd love this

When Evil Lurks and Leave The World Behind were both amazing VHS 85 seemed unwatchable just have Naga and Shin Godzilla(and then the new one) left and then I think ive caught up

i think the only recent movie that claimed giallo influence which actually felt giallo influenced was Knife + Heart. and that's not even "giallo influenced," it's just a straight up giallo.

Things that make it a giallo: Washed up US or UK actor with a prominent role. Flashback or villain POV shots. Conspicuous and unusual prop that shows up throughout the film and figures into the final scene somehow. That's it.
