There’s another company trying to make airships a thing again, so hopefully we’ll eventually get another one of these things once it inevitably fails and they sell off the hangar.

Without that, it's pretty hard to get any significant combustion going, because there's no O2 in the gas envelopes. Most all gas ballooning (much more popular in Europe) uses hydrogen and it works just fine. Planes already have many thousands of gallons of fuel in the wings anyway.

I'm not super keen on planes, either, but people on board tend to believe they fly, so they do. As you alluded, a lot of would-be airship passengers might know the now-memefied Hindenburg, and believe in that instead, and that hydrogen might get some ideas
