A debut in the Rumble, allows a less than stellar worker to look cool, look important, and look like they are a WWE star. But the dumb handshake stuff, whilst it can be seen as a "this person is important enough for us to feature them on TV", with Jade, that moment has passed, and unless it is a stupid repetitive joke like Ziggler's was, it now signifies nothing. It has the significance of when Lacey Evans walked to the ring and back again for no reasons for what seemed like 6 months in a row.

I have a student that is a legit WWE fan. She still sees Cody as the one that will dethrone Roman, doesn't care about CM Punk but will be pissed if he en's the Rumble.
