so the $1400 price for paxlovid is just what Pfizer is going to charge insurance

nobody knows yet what they’re going to charge patients after insurance discounts

Medicare and Medicaid patients will get it free through the end of 2024

uninsured and underinsured patients will still get it free through 2028

hoarders have driven the price up

I’m guessing the main problem is going to be that insurance will try their damnedest to prescribe it to as few people as possible

Went to the physician today to have her fill out my medical accommodation form for remote work for next year. I have a mechanical heart valve and I'm on blood thinners. At risk of severe illness from COVID, even by CDC guidelines. Have been full remote since April 2020.

You guys won't believe this, but the pandemic is behind us. It's just a cold now. RSV and the flu are worse. Nobody is being hospitalized. It just makes you tired.

She filled it out anyway, but said it would be the last time. Which is just as well because I'm hopefully switching jobs soon and probably can't get away with full remote for at least a few months.

The way the medical community as a whole has responded to COVID has certainly given me a lot of new doubts about the medical community.

Doctors like this should be shamed and discredited the same way doctors who prescribe Ivermectin are, but sadly "wanting to stay alive and not maimed" isn't part of the culture war.

Like, what kind of psychopath won't fill out a form so that someone (who, even if you ignore the fact that everyone is vulnerable to COVID, qualifies as extra vulnerable by the CDC's standards) doesn't have to work in a state of perpetual fear and risk in a gravely dangerous environment? It requires nothing of them. They're willfully choosing cruelty because choosing compassion might make them experience cognitive dissonance and force them for a moment to reflect upon their willful ignorance.

Nah. I have very low standards for the medical profession, so "signing off on a work form to enable WFH even though you think it's bullshit" is the least I expect from a decent doctor. Like if they believed what they were signing, that would be great, but I haven't run into one of those doctors yet.

Oh I mean, that's great she signed it, but to threaten to not sign it going forward is awful.

I don't know, my PCP and specialist both agreed to sign my ADA accomodation so fast it honestly surprised me. Maybe part of me was hoping they'd push back instead of immediately agreeing with "don't leave your house".

In response to the challenge, Vesync asserted its belief in the efficacy of its products and stated that the challenged claims were made based on pre-existing independent third-party data. Therefore, NAD did not review the claims on their merits.

i do get a little confused about this. i got some blue purifiers early in the pandemic, and those apparently performed really well in consumer reports' smoke clearance tests without being hepa. aren't smoke particles mad tiny?

It is a real standard, so the levoits obviously don't meet it but we have no idea how far off they are since they proactively hid the data.
