I hear our climate change minister has abandoned Cop28 to rush back so he can vote for the Rwanda bill to ignore international law. Leaving us with no representation at COP28. Is this a long form comedy sketch.

I can't even really get myself excited for a GE. Would be nice to see the Tories obliterated but Starmer I suppose maybe if the Tories collapse completely and we all see how lovely Labour are there might be more scope to exert pressure from the left, but I imagine that's exactly how people felt in 1997 and I can't really see how this ends up as anything better than a bunch of grey suits with no ideas cargo culting Blairism for another few terms. I suppose the big thing will be whether the Tories just get pushed out, or whether they go the way of the lib dems and cease to be a meaningful political force entirely. Probably the former, but the latter would at least make things interesting. Suddenly PR gets on the Conservative manifesto very urgently lol

When was the last time we had an election where there's absolutely no sign of competence or energy from either main party? That's the key difference between now and 97, and 2010 when the Tories had revitalised themselves.

Duppers have also said they are not supporting it

Not supporting it might mean just a simple abstention, rather than a vote against it I guess they are keeping everyone in suspense until the vote, which I believe is at 7pm(?) e: https://twitter.com/BethRigby/status/1734625545944440906 fuctifino fucked around with this message at 18:38 on Dec 12, 2023 |

Sunak needs less than 56 abstentions or 26 votes against from his own party. I've seen numbers suggesting it'll be close, but he might make it through. And then it goes to the Lords who are going to amend the gently caress out of it, if not outright reject it. And we'll be back here in January. Fun!

Got my reminder the NHS is being starved by the Tories and also just is a transphobic mess. Last appointment was told I was being referred for an orchi, was told now they just flat out don't do them anymore as part of gender care. And you need to be under 32 BMI to be referred for any of the more involved ones. While also being asked for the tenth time if my partner is trans and my request to actually discuss what my levels mean (and the nurse previously asking if I wanted them increased) being ignored. God loving damnit.
