Mr X was a retired cop/detective on Staten Island. Only his first name “Tony” was ever mentioned. I believe he was older than Robin but I have no idea if he is still alive or not.

Mr. X was by far Robin's most serious relationship right? At least during the show? Him or Jim Florentine

The Mr X relationship was way longer than Florentine. I wonder what she was thinking when Howard made the comment that Ralph on his deathbed expressed regret for never trying to have a real relationship. She is such a crazy narcissist... probably nothing.

Did she & Jim Florentine actually date, or was Jim Florentine just trying to ride her coattails? It seems like a bit of a long con, but maybe he was trying to stay relevant for longer. Either way, he didn't seem genuine, and I was suspicious of him from the beginning.

There was nothing in it for her if that is the case. I don't think they were super close though. He was a road comic and she had to be in NYC before dawn every morning. Not a ton of overlapping time there.

Ok, I'm just gonna say it; Eric was right about Katharine Mcphee. I was rewatching Community, specifically S1E18, Basic Genealogy. She plays Amber, Pierce's ex-stepdaughter.

I originally saw that episode before I ever even heard of Eric or listened to the show/clips of the show, so when I looked her up, her name didn't stick out then.

But I just rewatched it, looked up who played Amber, and jfc :swoon:

In internet generation terms, 2001 regdates are the Boomers of the Internet

2006 regdates are the Greatest Generation of the Internet who refused to pay any money for anything on the internet after they served and died and bled through the Netscape Navigator/Internet Explorer wars of the mid-90's until a barely-coherent Rich Lowtax finally won them over with the content

Yeah, but what does it mean when you've been on the internet since 1995-96, but only registered here 11 years later?

I remember the 'Planet-' sites. I never posted on the forums there but still... :corsair:

Goons caught bans just by not posting using any capitalization.

Some guy got his account banned just because he viewed the site on webTV. Radium didn't want to support that so he just banned him.

I actually kinda miss a little of the "required quality" stuff, but that was also the pre-probe days when you were just out $10 if a mod was nitpicking. haljordan would be doing a lot of fundraising in the Trump thread and I would have been banned yesterday.

The thing about the "required quality" stuff is (I think anyway) once the low-quality posters were probed & angry enough to leave or banned, it left behind posters who actually put thought into their posts during a time when sooooooo many other forums/sites were getting bombarded with nonsensical bullshit.

This is not to say that disciplining users for things as simple as lack of capitalization or posting while drunk wasn't excessive, but it at least distinguished SA from the more anarchic communities that were gaining popularity at around the same time.

Same. It feels like the userbase just sort of collectively evolved/matured at basically the same place (maybe because we're similarly aged, I don't know).

Any time I feel like the posting quality has dropped overall on SA, I go to a public forum that doesn't charge to post and see what a shitshow that is. I guess we found a happy medium where folks aren't getting banned for minimal things but the older community and entry price keep things from going full FYAD everywhere.

I'm assuming SA is kind of aging out though? I'm not sure if there are many new/young users, but it could just be the threads I frequent.

Yeah, I kind of hate myself for liking it.

But he's got to come up with his own stuff now, now that Ralph is gone. If we have to sum up Ralph's contributions to the show, I guess we can say he really gave birth to the whole Hey Now thing.
