Buy one of the new crop of cheap tungsten carbide nozzles. Under $50 (provok3d has en under $40 somehow) and they will last forever. Clogs don't exist if you can burn away any and all filament without affecting the hardness. I haven't gotten a clog yet, but when I do, the plan is to light it on fire with a propane torch, letting it cool then hitting it with the ultrasonic bath. Oh and better heat transfer than brass.

I already have MGn12 rails, GE5C ,etc. The issue is that while I technically have 300z, by the time you actually move the toolehead that high the cable / filament gets pinched and you really can't actually PRINT to z 300. I recall seeing some riser I can use to attach to eek out just 20-30 more mm I have a rapido HF on the way, people seem to like them and while i originally wanted the revo, it was going to be a lot for half the flow, and a LOT of money to upgrade it to HF. so, rapido it is. The bed was using those three prong mounts to eliminate the taco from the ridgid mounts, but that proved to be a flex point and my tap was just tap tap tapping the bed to varying z height, causing much of my QGL to fail. I have it braced with wood nowto keep it ridgid so all that is coming out. And i might as well redo my X/Y motion and Z belts to eliminate anything there. This is going to be a project again. Looking into Clee. (Ugg do i have M5 nuts ?)

Don't feel dumb, it's always just one small setting change but when there's a zillion settings that doesn't make troubleshooting much faster. I'm pretty sure I'm printing way too much into my bed, and I'm slowly destroying it getting prints off, but I'm going to wait until it's stopping me from getting successful prints before I fix it because I'm lazy and stupid.

Thanks, still feeling dumb though, the brain fog is real which is obvious in all sorts of ways. Like I've lost my ear for pitch (can't tune a guitar anymore without digital aids) and I can't solve easy math problems without a herculean effort of concentation. Trying to think on it I guess a logical next step is to print a cube on a raft and see what that results in. It's very possible I need more Z on the first layer and a raft print should give some kind of indication of how much, maybe. I doubt it could be all of 0.3 mm too low though, that's a lot.

Are you measuring the height at multiple locations around the cube and it's consistently 0.3 mm off? Or is that at the corners?

How acceptable is this? Calibrating my KobraMax after swapping in a revo 6 and a micro swiss extruder and I'm not sure if this indicates a heavily warped bed or something. afaik, things look fine, but it seems odd to me that its stopping off at the edges here so much.

Heat soaking a printer, is a thing. If I don't give my V0 a 10 minute warmup before I start doing prints, that thing ~absolutely~ will have a first layer failure.

Opinion: a ~0.2mm variance over something the size of a Kobra Max is as good as flat. That's not even super unusual for cheap Ender-sized machines. Not ideal on a smaller scale, obviously, but still pretty easily compensated for with a good bed mesh.

Voron parts on Bambu shouldn't be an issue, just change the walls/infill and it should just spit them out. I'd make sure to tune for the specific ABS filament though, I've noticed on some of my ABS I need to do that.

Apart from the elephant foot everything else is pretty straight. Bottom face appears straightest (judged with backlight and straight edge, followed by top edge which is OK and the sides that hourglass just a smidge - this lessened noticeably with -10c hot end temperature. I just finished doing a print with a raft, and not only did it do away with the elephant foot but also gave me a Z dimension of 30 mm on the nose. My caliper resolution is just 0.1 mm though. Except now I feel extra super dumb since I just realised that I actually own a decent micrometer that was gifted to me long ago that I rarely if ever use (I historically do all my precision machining and advanced tinkering at a shop outside home), but looking at it just now for the first time in years it only opens up to 25 mm so these cubes are useless if I want to measure with higher precision. pics: (all of these are cura's standard resolution and default 20% infill option BTW.) ^^^this is the worst foot, 210/60 c no raft ^^^this is the best foot, 200/45 c with raft, the only print of the bunch that's dimensionally accurate Z-wise Anyways I guess I'll try adding a .3 mm Z offset on the first layer and see what happens. On a cube less than 25 mm In other happy news the raft popped right off the print @200c hot end, I've been struggling to get them off sometimes when printing gears @210 Also I just received some thin wall brass tubes with the oddball dimension of 5 mm OD. I'm hoping to sleeve or replace outright the printed axles on the next iteration of the mechanical model I actually want to be working on instead of this. Massaging .stl files is painful but the parts with the axles are pretty simple shapes so it's manageable, maybe this plan might even work. This gear is not good enough and I want to do better. Rafts waste filament and add print time but if they keep popping off easily like today I can live with rafts if that's what it takes.

If I wanted to add a feed splitter for my X1-C so I can either use the AMS or print directly from a spool, which is the best current model I should be grabbing? And is it easy to add one in after I'd already set up the printer for the AMS- will it be fairly straightforward to release the tubing to add in the splitter? I feel like when I connected the AMS originally it was a pretty snug connection.

It's a neat little locking mechanism.

I printed this one and screwed in the connectors. Super simple. Works perfectly. The tubing connectors, both the ones on the Bambu and the ones you install in that one, release by pushing in the ring around the tube and pulling the tube out.

Is the X1C with AMS a printer that will let me just print things with minimal tinkering and adjustments? I sold my Ender 3 and would like to get back into 3D printing but only if I can actually spend more time printing than adjusting and fixing the printer.

My P1S has not stopped printing since I got it and I have done nothing except wash my build place twice in the last two weeks. It pretty much "just prints" in my experience.

They all just work out of the box. The X1C is nice, but you can get away with a P1P or P1S, and an AMS if you want the convenience of less filament swapping and the ability to do multi-color prints. But I used my single-filament P1P constantly for months and it was great even without the AMS. Now I have one and it's even better.

You’ll still be messing with clogs, dirty nozzles, purge bits getting tossed onto the build plate, occasional adhesion issues, filament drying, etc. with an X1C and that’s not even getting into slicer settings. I think “it just prints” understates the amount of maintenance and tinkering you still have to do even if the machine is a lot more reliable than an Ender.

I gotta admit, I'm really digging the k1 max. It's quiet. The app is an over built octoprint with ads and misc other garbage, but the printer itself is damned good. Fast too. I'm honestly kinda surprised to have a "take it out of the box and print with it" sort of setup. Works fine though. Currently printing a flex dragon.

I don't hate that pricing at all. Not really in need (or even in want, which is unusual for me) of another printer right now, but I have occasionally thought of picking up a dedicated single-color printer to complement the P1 crew. The A1 might be a strong contender if I decide to do that.
