Aw hunny, these came out GREAT!

He's the longest tenured person on the Chargers staff and has survived three different coaching regimes. Players all love him and are absolutely gonna play for him the rest of the year.

I hope he comes back next year

If he's been there forever and the players love him, just name him the head coach.

Dream: Harbaugh

Realistic: Ben Johnson with an established DC. Ron Rivera maybe.

Ron Rivera head coach would make so much sense for Spanos.

They can lie and say he has super bowl pedigree and he'd be fairly cheap and not in high demand and he's established in the league.

You could try to trade a bunch of draft picks for John I guess?

But yeah, the one going through the stupidest scandal that probably doesn't matter but he's absolutely positively guilty of either orchestrating or knowing all about it that the NCAA and the Big 10 are mad at would seem to be the obvious target.

e: the NFL did make some noises about holding up the NCAA suspension should there be one. I...don't really trust that at all, but it was something people were reporting.

There’s been some Ravens fan fiction in the subreddit this season where John gracefully retires at the end of the season and hands the reins to Mike Macdonald

but this doesn’t look like a guy thinking about retirement to me

Speaking of the Dolphins, has anyone watched the mid-season Hardknocks? Mike McDaniel is ridiculous. His demeanor is precisely that of an autistic Madden player. Gen-X "McFuckity gently caress" cursing every sentence, zero emotional reaction on the sideline, dude is even avoiding eye contact.

They are never going to show Xs and Os in Hardknocks. McDaniel minus the Xs and Os is a insane thing to see as a coach.

Oh hey, thanks for reminding me about this

they're all scared cause it looks like the OC and DC are 'good' in their terms and will get poached and they quickly forget about the buzz around wink and roman even after the star season lol

As a 49ers fan I can say I am glad Jim is gone. I was salty about it at first but watching some old vids of him on the sidelines made me very glad he's gone. I like the chargers. I'd hate to see him there. He should go some place yuckier. Like Philly.

I think Jim is more suited for the college game. John’s (slightly) cooler head plays better in the pros.

You can only spread signing bonus cap hits across the next 5 years of a deal/restructure. You'd have to do insane locked in roster bonuses and then when the player does leave the team, all the remaining cap hits move up to that year / the next year with a June 1st designation. So you can move money forward for a long long time (see the Saints), but you can't do an Ohtani / Bonilla contract.

oh I didn’t know it was just 5 years, you're right that would make it almost impossible
