I am getting the degree because it makes terrible people pay slightly more attention to me. I very much doubt I'll actively practice in any traditional sense. This guy is not a physicist because a high schooler can do the math on how strong an earth radio signal is by the time it gets to the nearest star. Its not a question of technology; after a certain distance you're talking about getting 1 photon total hitting a planet, and you can't call that a "signal".
