theoretically that would be some eastern russia team if they ever managed to qualify for european competition, but in reality i think the honour goes to a portuguese vs kazakh fixture

There some teams in South America who play in the French cup, but realistically I think it's probably Braga to Almaty. I don't think Icelandic teams tend to do that well.

Fulham's game against Amkar Perm must be up there in terms of ones that have actually happened

e: PSV v Novosibirsk apparently, two fans made the 10,000km round trip to see PSV lose 1-0 in stoppage time (although they won the second leg 5-0)

i was just reading about this and it seems like a strong sentiment in russia is "we need to have separate east and west leagues because this is loving ridiculous"

the best part of the Luch Vladivostok saga was the actual Luch players saying to everyone else "yeah you think you have it bad coming here once a year, imagine how we feel traveling for every away game"

Maybe I’m misremembering but I think they were exploring the possibility of basically having a Moscow team for away games and another separate home team.

Would be funny if uefa end up taking a match to football as we know it and accidentally get the EU involved in football employment law as well.

So no premier league clubs, unless they are OK with getting thrown out of the Premier league, no German teams and no psg?

It really isn't back on though. The UK aren't part of the EU so can and will them them to gently caress off. France will because of Qatar and Germany will because of Germany.

That leaves, what, a handful of Italian teams, a couple of Spanish ones, probably the "big three/four/whatever" teams from Greece and Turkey plus of course the entire Saudi league.

I don't think they've been invited to the Super League 2.0 because it's participation based on sporting merit.

It literally isn't based on sporting merit though, which is the big problem.

I propose we do things as fairly as possible and get the top 32 teams from the last 5 years based on coefficient points earned and have a super league where they all get £500m a year.

It was weird. It clearly wasn't offside but it was clearly a foul on the goalkeeper, I guess the referee didn't want to bother to explain that and just marked it offside.
