Also wouldn't 1000 Mozarts defeat the point of a Mozart? Like the whole reason Mozart is Mozart (and why someone like Shakespeare was Shakespeare) is because his work stood out from the general background noise of slop based on its quality. If you have 1000 people all producing Mozart quality material all at once that that simply becomes the baseline and while that seems good on its head, you quickly introduce the Incredibles problem where if everything is an amazing work of art, then suddenly nothing is.
You don't think like a capitalist, having 1000 Mozarts around will devalue the cost of owning one and make their works faaar cheaper for the billionnaire class to own. Also if one Mozart turns out to be too on the left, they can always replace them with a more rightwing mozart.

Spare batteries are pretty key.
Were there important social components to the existence of a Mozart which allowed a child prodigy to be recognized and brought to thrive under a system of tutelage and patronage?

No, it's purely a matter of numbers.

no.

as has been pointed out, there are already thousands of mozarts, right now. like, there are literally at least one thousand - and most likely, very many more - who are just as good at composing music as mozart. whether they will be recognized as such during or after their lifetime - in many cases centuries after their lifetime - has as much to do with connections and money and even weird quirks of fate as it does to do with talent. like if mozart didn't have his fathers connections to the music world from early on in his life, who knows how his work would have gone and been received then. or if anyone would know about it now

also, mozart himself could barely make ends meet by the end of his life, which was short and during most of which he was sick and in debt so i guess it makes sense that elon wants that. he's already got it

HNNNNNGG!!

Sort of unrelated but I was driving in Calgary a few months ago when a big Mercedes SUV cut me off to get into a turning lane. The license plate was either SS3388 or 3388SS (I can't remember which order), but my first thought was "Oh, that must be to trick speed cameras. This guy must be a total shithead driver." I got a good look at him as I drove past, and that's when it hit me. Mercedes, 1933, Hitler number, SS, clean-cut doofy-looking blonde-haired blue-eyed white guy. I get it now. It is a total shithead, but in a much different context. Hooray for him being out and proud. Just fantastic. :w00t:

What they are actually concerned about is that when population stops increasing endlessly it hurts the economy since it is based on constant market growth. Stasis in our relationship to the earth and the things we use, or (God forbid) contraction, is horrifying to them. Yeah, and a stagnant growth rate basically necessitates a transition to a planned economy, which is their biggest fear.

Their second biggest being that China, with its massive economic base, massive amount of skilled engineers, and centralized political will is poised to crush both their companies that actually make money, and their pet space companies.

yeah, its the churn. We spin up these multinational orgs with the idea they'll address our mutual needs, it becomes inconvenient for an individual, the org is scrapped, we have a big war about it, then do it again.

One thing most people don't realise about the Matrix is that in the years before they built the Matrix the machines would have been making the coolest video games that you could imagine.

They probably had AIs where you could just type in a prompt and it'd spit out a video game.
