RealityWarCriminal posted:they say it's to simplify vaccination schedules, having one big push before winter. but yeah, it's insurance hoo boy really sayin the quiet part out loud here The FDA posted:Although the data are not fully consistent and several knowledge gaps remain, emerging evidence suggests that a combination of SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, termed hybrid immunity, confers significant protection against COVID-19 and that immunity acquired by infection should be considered in determining the immunization schedule (Pilz et al 2022) let's take a look at the dogshit citation they provide lmao Pilz Nuts posted:Although we clearly outlined the efficacy of natural immunity, we want to strongly emphasize that nobody should on purpose seek infection to bypass vaccination because SARS-CoV-2 infection, regardless of the underlying variant, is associated with noteworthy adverse outcomes. However, it would be imprudent not to factor previous infections into policy considerations, given their high frequency. This may be even more important for younger age strata where COVID-19 risks of severe outcomes are far lower anyhow. "get hosed, children!" and also the absolute latest study they incorporated into their review was published in 2021 which means Omicron hadn't existed yet.

We don't really have any idea how well the latest booster does against this new variant eh. I'm prolly still gonna try to get another round of novavax at 6 months, but expect might have to pay for it. Colorado has made it a lot harder to lie.

It’s not great, not terrible against strains circulating in October, November. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.12.12.23299855v1.full-text posted:We present early vaccine effectiveness (VE) estimates of the 2023 seasonal COVID-19 vaccination campaign using XBB.1.5 vaccine against COVID-19 hospitalization and ICU admission in previously vaccinated adults ≥60 years old in the Netherlands. We compared vaccination status of 2050 hospitalizations including 92 ICU admissions with age group-, sex-, region- and date-specific population vaccination coverage between 9 October and 5 December 2023. VE against hospitalization was 70.7% (95% CI: 66.6; 74.3), VE against ICU admission was 73.3% (95% CI: 42.2; 87.6). There was a time when “one in four people still get the worst outcomes” would have been considered deplorable results, but it could be a lot worse given how out of date XBB.1.5 was as a target.

I got my last booster in 2020 and since the whole country shares the same vax database, everyone will say I’m up to date and can’t get any more. So even socialism is not the perfect solution. At least in USA you can actually get new vaccines and Paxlovid with money.

The Oldest Man posted:OK I am further downgrading my opinion of SmarterHEPA and their blast/blast mini air purifier. In addition to not sealing properly, they have what should be a pretty obvious design flaw. The blower motor is placed upstream of the main filter! So the thing gets absolutely caked in fine dust after a while, it's not easy at all to clean it since it's a wheel fan even once you've disassembled the whole thing, and having a bunch of poo poo on the fan blades is going to degrade the performance. I never thought about this, but QT3's motor is upstream as well 😅 My large purifiers (Winix, Coway) have filters before the fan.

It's just a mathematical process by which eventually an assembly of chaotic changes iterates itself into and out of existence.
