Achewood's subterranean masculine anxieties are a major source of its strength

Also Ray Smuckles, even if he never made it to syndication

yah, and well, ok to link it to the timeline strip:
i think also, that the characters of Ray (and Philippe) are inseparable from those anxieties. they're both in the most cared-for and catered to classes of people in the u.s.: wealthy people and children. they end up often being mouthpieces for anxieties that, taken rationally, seem: petty, strange, based on weird unreal logic- but because we have animal bodies, those anxieties can take grip and feel just as emotionally hurtful or jarring or upsetting as more difficult struggles or traumas endured by other characters in the strip- here, the layer of beef and teodor; elsewhere, lyle and todd, pat and pete,

it's interesting, this timeline, viewed in that lens

i cant afford nu-achewood at the moment so i'm letting it build up for several months before i read it but i'm looking forward to seeing how The Great Mellowing that a lot of my irl dude-type friends his age are going thru, ends up reflected

It'll probably be worth checking out for you in a few months when the backlog has been built up a bit more. The schedule is one strip a week (and if you go up a tier, the supplemental writings which have all been really good) so there's not going to be the surfeit of material you might expect from a year of Achewood in its heyday. I'm cool with it since this slower rate and the fact that Onstad seems to finally be able to make a living off the strip will hopefully keep it sustainable for him.

I'll vouch and say I've loved the few completed arcs so far and think that he's not missed a beat since the hiatus. Down the line, I might just do the thing where I just subscribe sporadically to catchup on the backlog like I do with a lot of my already untenable list of Patreon subscriptions, but I've really enjoyed getting a fix of Achewood every week.

If I can be real with everybody.

Probably about 15 years ago I sent my fiancee this part of the strip over FB messenger because it felt like us entirely. I was screwing up my computer engineering degree and she was finishing a doctorate. We've been estranged for an equal amount of time.

Seeing Beef and Molly continue to suffer plucks at a weird part of my memory. I guess what I mean to say is I saw somethin' my brain didn't have a spot for and it was like gettin' bit on the stomach by a horse.

To me a computer is basically a piano.

I can plink out a few tunes but I don't really know all of the details and intricacies that a true master of the instrument can do.

Like catch how I misspelled "intricacies" and told me "Hey, you got it wrong, here's the right way" as I type.

Teodor was saying Donald Trump was a corny bullshit man long before he staggered his way to his current incubus-like state. It is possible he might have briefly fallen for Musk's public image, but I'm confident he would not have become one of those people.

Also, he will never have enough money to purchase a Tesla.
