I think LA rock dudes pick it off a menu at hair salons like they're ordering at a Chinese restaurant. Give me a #3 and can I substitute a top hat for the weave?

He is literally one of the nicest dudes ever. He gets a pass for dyed hair imo.

Seriously go watch any interview with him. He seems like such a nice dude.

Dude is 67 years old. Seriously the coolest thing about that video is seeing that if you keep it up, it's actually possible on a physical level to still play the guitar the way you want even when you're pushing 70.

The video itself is completely ridiculous though. Definitely concentrated high quality thread content.

yeah, I'd about guarantee he is.

I've been on a Winters Brothers kick lately, which reminded me of personal stupid music poo poo. It took me way too many years to connect the Dan Hartman in The Edgar Winters Group who played bass, sang, and wrote "Free Ride" with the Dan Hartman that sang(and wrote) "I Can Dream About You".

Also awesome music stuff for the double neck guitar/bass with both being used in the same song

Dan actually played guitar on Free Ride, although he did generally play bass for the band. Another guitarist (and singer) on that song is Rick Derringer, who would later go on to have a very strange career, producing pretty much all of Weird Al's 80s albums and writing this little ditty:

Most of the live stuff Dan plays the riff, but the lead is played by Rick(or Jerry Weems, the guy that was between Ronnie Montrose and Rick). And in this one Rick is playing bass with Dan on rhythm. In any combo, one hell of a band.

AND Rick was in The McCoys.

I'm still trying to connect "Free Ride" with "Slow Ride" by Foghat... or dis-connect them, they both seem to be from the deep well of 70's buttrock, but the latter was featured on both Seinfeld and NewsRadio

There's another one, took me way too long to work out the Patti Smith/Patty Smyth thing.

Free Ride is up-tempo, Slow Ride is mid-tempo. Also the former of course soundtracked the opening scene of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Movie.

The idea of wearing a keyboard on a strap is very appealing. Plus the dude has a strong modulation/pitch bend game.

I'm back with more stupid music poo poo that my friends and I made. A long time ago my brother-in-law did this parody at a Rock Band™ competition and he's been bugging us to record it and make a video for like 6 years. We did the first tracks on this a long time ago and I spent a long time trying to make them fit without rerecording.

Its called "Sum 4d6's Phat L00t" and is a parody of Sum 41's Fat Lip

Imagine financing an acoustic guitar at 16% interest (500 CAD monthly payment) and it's not even a Taylor or a Martin.

Good christ. And it's for a Hummingbird, no less.
If ever there's been an acoustic that's commanded a gigantic price just for the name alone, it's that one. Like as as a guitar it's fine but it's nowhere near worth what they're charging for it. And at 16% interest. Dang.

This is the most difficult one I've come up with honestly, but yeah everyone I've asked has basically said that right off the bat. I work at a major music store and podcasters are the bane of my existence right now. It's the new DJing, - even worse becsuse at least DJing is improved by a modicum of musical competence - in that there's an extremely low bar for entry so attention-starved people with nothing interesting to say are all over it.

The interest is calculated at 16%/12 times the monthly remaining balance (theoretically this person could throw down the rest of the balance today and not pay any interest or save money on interest by paying early) but still, l&m does zero interest 12 month terms on Gibson every October every year so it’s bad timing. Or if the payments are too high they could do 3 year terms during Gibson month but the interest really sucks then.

Or 0% 12 months for Martin and Taylor occasionally too hahaha. There’s rarely a month that goes by without something getting that deal.

Yeah. There's a 'virgin/chad' Shiba inu meme I can't find right now with a crying guitarist surrounded by pedals and their DAW like "what if nobody likes my tunes" and three giant muscled podcasters with their SM7Bs like "so I was at the store getting groceries and this chick ahead of me is taking forever" "oh I hate that bro".

They're the worst. I have to grin and bear it and sell them their USB mics and show them how to use them and humour their vapid fascination knowing these toys are going to come right back or go in the garbage. At least some of them are at least passionate about something specific. At the risk of getting political, the absolute worst one I had to deal with was a woman who started the conversation with "I'm Israeli and I need to make a podcast to help my people sleep at night with everything that's going on." She was singularly the most insidiously rude, entitled person I've ever had to deal with, she demanded we turn off the store music and that "someone competent" show her how to install and use loving Audacity and Zoom on her laptop. I just wanted to sneak in a "from the river to the sea" somewhere but I'd rather not lose my job.

Merry Christmas.
