Pipers are bad rear end, there was one on Sword Beach on D Day. German snipers apparently didn't bother firing at him because they thought he'd gone insane. Where I live you only hear pipes when people are marching, Paddy's day, funerals or Nationalist/Republican commemorations, and there's no better way to let everyone for ~1 mile know you're out there

Someone a few blocks away practices their pipes full blast every once in a while. I haven’t triangulated which house it is exactly but their neighbors must loathe them. My k-7 school was highlands elementary, off highlands boulevard, my scout troop was the 15th highlanders (tartan scarves itchy as all gently caress). There’ve been bagpipes all over as far back as I can remember.
